I have the GFK and LOVE it 👍. Plenty of power, quick bit change and adjustment. The LED’s is why i bought it. You won’t regret having it if you decide to get one. 😊

Dave, I have the 1 1/4hp version and really like it. One reason to get the new one is they have taken the modification out of the equation. It’s open on both sides! Happy New Year to you all.

I researched and researched palm routers... I took a chance on the Chinese Vevor knock off. It came with all three bases for the price of the base Dewalt trim router etc. It works fine but no LED light. I opened the back of the base nice. I have gotten an external lite set up but wish there was an LED light. Too bad dad hasn't made an LED add on....get him on that..lol

I will stay with the Dewalt. The motor did go out on me after almost 2 years of heavy use. However, with the Lowes warranty, I just took it back and got another one no questions asked. Plus, the Dewalt base your Dad builds works like a dream.

Great information. I'm with You concerning the Rigid. The Bosch looks okay, but with the adjustment gear mechanism, when You turn it around to vacate the sawdust the cord will be sticking out at You. Am curious about the price of the Bosch. If I purchase another router, (would be my third compact), I will stick with the DWP 611. It seems to be the class of the field. Now if it had the on-off switch of the Rigid it would be perfect. Thanks again for all You do for us.

I agree the 611 is still my favorite, and the best for what I do. I really don't mind the cord sticking at me. I'm used to it because I do it that way for the camera and have gotten used to it. With all the thousands of people who carve whether for profit or fun, you would think Bosch or the other brands would make a router with features like Dad created, bases, vacuum ports, lights etc. that are already are on it. I bought a Craftsman pro 6.5 amp with base and handles and lights on it years ago. I easily adapted a vacuum port on it and that's it. It refuses to die as much as I use it. Granted Craftsman is the low end of the spectrum of quality now but the big names should realize the marketing they are missing.

The Dewalt 611 is my favorite if you're ok with the modification, opening up the back. See our videos #50 and #122. The ridigid R2401 is a great starting router that doesn't need to modification, and it much cheaper. Hope this helps. Be sure and email me if I can answer any other questions for you, [e-mail]. Eric remember when I ordered the plate for my Bosch colt and it didn’t fit? We discussed then why Bosch did that? I ended up getting the plate and cut the holes myself. 🤗

It all depends on the shank size. Most palm routers are 1/4" shank so I doubt there's a 1 1/8" bit with a 1/4" shank.

If it's a 1/4" shaft, then it'll definitely work in a palm router. I wouldn't run it for an hour straight, but it should be able to handle it no problem

It's the GKF 125CE. 110 volt 1.25 HP. It's just over $100.

@@oldave100 Thanks for replying. Looking for a router. for a beginner, only 1, and I hate to outgrow. Problem is I do not know where this may take me. I may start rounding corners. I wish someone would talk about the limitations of each router. And everytime I think I picked the right the right one, someone points out a flaw on that model. I was told to look at 12 amp tools. I want a plunge to use as a mini drill press, but haven't seen in acton. I subscribe to those who help their audience beyond a video, thanks.

For freehand routing signs like I do my favorite is the Dewalt DWP611. However it's limitations would be heavy cuts. If you anticipate doing lots of heavy work my choice would be the Dewalt DW616, or the Porter Cable 690LR. If you have more questions you can email me directly [e-mail]

Sorry Dave, I told you wrong. It’s not my 1 1/4 hp Bosch that’s open in the back but the 2 1/4 hp that’s open in the back. The gfk is still a really nice router, but looking at the base I’m not sure it can be modified. That micro adjustment gear is probably going to be in the way. Sorry for the confusion.

I do a good amount of routing with the 2 1/4 on wood work ext but want to do some letters on a sign for my daughter would the spiral upcut bit be the best for this ? Also just got the new Bosch colt because my other routers are Bosch but the micro adjust is hard and pops sometimes due to saw dust in it’s the dewalt 611 a better router ?
