I'd rather hear some talking too. Even if it was added after the fact. Geeze that was a nice Trilene knot, my choice of knots btw, but what weight was the line and what size was that hook and which striper Rod was that, I know it was an Ugly Stik but which size they have two. How deep was the water in that channel, how deep were they fishing that bait, on the bottom or was it halfway up? Tell me something, how long was the fight. I could care less about music. I'm wanting to learn how to catch stripers. Not watching videos to be entertained by your favorite tunes...

I made this video on IMovie and the song was there and free. I know its over used and could have been better choice. It sure beat searching through all the worse songs youtube has to use that are free! LOL... I don't eat the big ones and throw them back 99 percent of the time. Weighed this one to see if it was the lake record officialy. Close but no cigar! For those who want the song its Awolnation "sail". And for Joe Dirt who seems like an angry little fellow I looked at your videos and it appears your comment is self directed! Guess that's how you draw views/attention to yourself!

The best fishing locations here in Georgia. Lake Lanier, Jackson Lake, Lake Oconee and Elijah Clark state park which is in Lincolnton, Georgia near Augusta Georgia at the Savannah river. If you want the trophy fish, Elijah Clark state park is unbeatable, especially with the Catfish and the stripers

Great Video! I just bought an older Wellcraft V20 Fisherman Center Console and had it on Lanier last weekend. I've never Striper fished before but really want to learn the ins and outs. i've bass fished my whole life but out of jon boats. Where would you recommend i start? should i go charter a guide for a day to learn the fastest? thanks!

Throw out a blue back herring or gizzard and you will catch one, won't be a 44ib but you will get one for sure.

Great fish, Tim...what part of Lanier did you get him at? We have been hitting them well at Simpson Park and Flat Creek this spring...also Balus...but nothing that big...biggest we have so far is 27. Interested to see how you hook your gizzard shad baitfish. Thanks.
@h20hawgs8 жыл бұрын
+JERRY RUNNELS you are in the right two spots... I hook a big shad with a #5 or 6 in the nose and a big same size treble about 3/4 back. I use 40lb leader to treble. I also try to get the largest shad I can find. That eliminates smaller fish pretty well. 27 is a big fish. That one was in February. Now is the time to catch those big ones full of eggs. I caught one in January that was 45" long and weighted 38 this year. Just a giant fish but no eggs to add that extra 7-10lbs... Tight Lines!

I would've liked to get a closer look at how the shad was hooked. But nice video
@h20hawgs6 жыл бұрын
XV it had a nose hook and a drop treble about 8” off the main hook. Treble was hooked though his bottom side in his ass and back out. They seem to hook up more often when the treble is on the under side of the shad instead of the topside behind the dorsal fin. Just in my experience. People claim both ways are best just whatever works for you at the time.
@sumoninja1415 жыл бұрын
@@h20hawgs just saw this reply, thank you for the response. I'm in socal, I can only dream of stripers that size. Where I'm at they only get 10-30 lbs. 30 being very very rare

Hi Tim, What know is that that you tied? I am new to striper fishing, they kill my lures and snap 30 lb braid. Should I use 50 to 80 lb braid? Any tips on quality lures that I can buy?Scot
@h20hawgs6 жыл бұрын
Scott Striper’s are definetly rough in your tackle. When river fishing we often use 80-100lb braid with a heavy fluro leader like 40-50lb. All depends on where we are fishing. Other times we use light line line 20lb with a 12-14lb leader in open water when they are finicky. I have tackle that is dedicated to river fishing and lake fishing and everywhere in between. Lol
