Your "shooter's perspective" really demonstrates the concept of "smoke obscured targets". Well done.

Several comments on this one, Jed. #1 : Nice addition of superchargers and afterburners on your lawn horse. Back when I was a young whippersnapper like yourself, I mowed about 5 acres. Sure wish I'd had one like yours way back then. #2 : Black powder smoke seems to operate like campfire smoke. Doesn't matter where you stand, the smoke always blows in your face. #3 : The reason that Rick O'Shea fellow is so fast, when loading his ammo, he forgot to put any smoke in there. Sneaky way to see the targets. #4 : I really like the "reduced reach" of the hammers on your new Vaqueros. Surprised someone doesn't make aftermarket hammers for the '51 Colts, etc. Fun video, thanks Jed.

#1 - I bought that when I moved to this place. Figured I’d save a lot of time over using the “walk behind” mower. Still gotta use that old one for under some of the trees and such. But, the riding mower sure does speed things up. #2 - So true! #3 - 😆 I sure do hope he reads this! #4 - I’ve seen custom hammers made for the 51’s. Had a pard offer to do mine. But, I really think it messes up the lines on the 51’s. I pretty partial to how they look stock. Yeah, a little longer reach but sometimes ya gotta sacrifice speed for style. Right? 😊 Thanks for the comment!

Dear Jed: Do you have or know of a video on how you clean your Vaqueros after shooting black powder you could reference? If not would you consider doing one specifically on the vaquero and black powder? Thanks for the great video. Doris

@@JEDiTV i recently acquired a Vaquero (stainless, original model, 45 Colt) I am familiar with takedown and BP cleaning of Colt SAA and C&B percussions and Remington 1858 NMA percussion but not the Vaqueros, so a dedicated Vaquero take down and clean after black powder would be great.👍

In the "for what it's worth" category, here's my cleaning regimen for my New Vaqueros after shooting Goex black powder or APP black powder substitute: Pull the base pins and remove the cylinders. Using a small spray bottle filled with "moose milk" (Ballistol and water; a friend prefers Ballistol and isopropyl alcohol), spray the bore, chambers, the cylinder window and the exterior surfaces. Let the revolver sit while you clean rifle and shotgun. Wipe off all surfaces and run a patch through the bore and the chambers. Done.

Jed, question. Can you explain, maybe you have idea how to prevent snake bores? The plastic wads (I can get fiocchi ones) are melted with black powder ... and cleaning is difficult ... I will try use to use baking paper for shot cups ...
@JEDiTV3 жыл бұрын
I have no problem using plastic wads. The plastic coating comes out with one pull of my bore snake. Just let is soak for a bit. I go over my cleaning method here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4HdfmiQitB5fqM Hope that helps!
