I love the 450 Bushmaster. Rounds loaded by Hornady, Federal and Remington are all made for the AR-15. If you hand load you can load it up to the specs of a 460. You can load a 250 grain bullet at 2500 ft per second. That equates to around 1,200 foot lb of energy at 300 yards

You can load it up close but not quite. They have the same case capacity and use the same powders but the 460 can be loaded to 65000 psi and the 450 is saami at only 40 but could prob go to 55 in a bolt gun but is still 10000 psi behind the 460

I'm running a 300gr ftx at 2120fps out of my 20" AR. Also running 200gr ftx at 2728fps. Just shot my moose at 260 yards with the 300's. It took one shot which was a through and through.

My dad bought me a Mossberg Patriot this year for Christmas. He sent the black synthetic stock in to MOH hydrographics and had the stock juiced up with a beautiful Muddy Girl Camo finish. It is a great looking rifle that shoots 1 MOA at a hundred yards with Hornady 250 grain FTX loads all day long! Love this caliber!

According to your chronograph the 240 grainer had a little more power, the gel showed it too.. usually the heavier bullet has the advantage but that bear creek had some boogie 💥💥💥 that was a good test & a fun video!!👍

I have a Mossberg Patriot rifle, 20" barrel, wooden stocked, 1 inch rubber butt pad and no muzzle break. I really like this caliber for deer hunting in Michigan. It has a 3X9 Swift scope (South Korea) that my local gun shop (Dick Williams of Saginaw, Mi.) totally warranties. I shoot Winchester 250 grain bullets and have no complaints. I have taken three deer with this rifle since buying it in 2020. The first one was a little over 100 yds. and she jumped about 7 feet and collapsed, the second one was 45 t0 50 yds. and dropped in her tracks, the third one was about 60 yds., and he ran maybe 25 yds. and collapsed. The effect on the gel is very impressive, thank you for the video.

I'm in Michigan where it all started and my Ruger American (1st production run) has the full 22 inch barrel and a leupold 3-9x40 C.D.S. Mark AR scope. Current ammo is hornady 250 gr (only ammo for dial system at time ) that will go 400 yards on dial and another 150 using mildot reticle for total range of 550 yards. Absolutely love this rifle. It replaced my Savage 210 fully rifled bolt action 12 gauge slug gun that I used for over 15 years until Michigan law was changed allowing straight walled cartridges.

I have watched this about 10 times and out of all the times today was the first time I've noticed the shockwave distortion when on the chrono. You have to look closely but you see the pressure wave. Then when the gel blocks are hit the pressure wave from the round through the air pulls the corners of the blanket in, 450 beastmaster is simply one of those rounds like the 10 mm that is perfectly designed.

Great that you finally got the Bear Creeks. I'm reloading them and the Barnes TTSX BT 250s. I'm starting lower powder on the Beer Creeks max 43.5 H110 they load a little hotter. Whats good about them is the BC is .265 which means they retain their velocity past 200 yards much better than any other 450 BM ammo I've seen. At close range that 300 federal looks to do some damage though :)

Sweetness!.... I personally love the bushmaster, and load for it. It's very finicky and loves to be around the 2100 fps range. I shoot the 250 ftx factory loads from Hornady running around 2200..... load them to 2100-2150... LilGun is an ok powder for the bushy but I've never got anything close to good s.d. with it. The 240 grain xtp mags are evil, but also like to be running slower. The upper I run is a bear creek, and it's pretty solid. Word of advise, make sure to take it apart, and torque EVERYTHING back down. Some of my screws were loose. Caught some pills out of it last week before I did some load tests... they both performed excellent!... Now I want the 240 grain solids to try out. Thanks!!!

The 450 Bushmaster(300 grain bullet at 1,900 feet per second) is basically a 45/70 in an AR platform. Same deal with the 350 Legend(170 grain bullet at 2,200 feet per second)-a basic 30/30 round. Both are available in AR uppers that fit 5.56 mag wells

I love my Ruger American Ranch bolt rifle in 450 bushmaster. The only ammo I have used so far, is the hornady interlock in 245 gr flying 2,200 fps. Once sighted in, a 3/4" , 3 shot group at 100 yds

I use wood blocks and it grips better than most other materials without damaging the barrel, and the brake i use a leather belt wrapped around with a vice grip on the tail end.

Pretty cool video. I have been interested in the 450 BM much longer before the Straight Wall cartridge for hunting craze happened a couple years ago. I almost bought an upper out of the bargain cave at Cabela's (back when they actually had one) probably 8 years ago, but didn't. Anyway I have been looking at the Go Wild version of the rifle that you have there and may eventually get it and or build an AR for that cartridge or just get a complete upper from Bear Creek Arsenal and put it on the lower to the .223 Predator/Coyote hunting AR that I want to build. When I first saw those two cartridges side by side I thought the BCB one was heavier than the Federal hollow point one, being that it is twice if not three times longer if you include the polymer tip. The other one must be seated further in. That 2400 is screaming fast for that round and should be interesting to see ballistically and accurately you could push that round out to. 250-300 yards maybe?

I have (3) BCA. barrels The 450BM that I can’t find a good load yet, the best gives me 2.5-3 MOA. A 350 legend gives me a 3.5-4 MOA. The third barrel (6.5 Grendel) gives me .5 to 1 MOA with most loads. I hope I find a good load/bullet because I love the 450BM and Legend platforms. Great video👍

That's 2400 out of a 16 inch bbl. That same round averaged 2540 out of my 20 inch bbl which out preforms the 444 and many others. Much flatter shooting and in my eyes makes this a legit elk round out to 250 yds.

Sadly a 240 gr 450 bushmaster round has horrible sectional density and wouldnt be great for elk with that light a bullet. But dang near 3500 ft lbs would destroy a white tail!

Had a ruger American 450 and it blew up on my first shot. Blew the magazine to pieces it the bottom. Ruger sent me another gun and never had another problem with it.

Finally grabbed one after wanting one for 2-3 years. Bear creek 18" sidecharge middy on a ke arms mil-spec lower. Only fired one box last week but still have a bruise lol. Gun runs good. Just can't seat the bullets too far back or they will hit the bolt catch. Might shorten the bolt catch if tweaking the rear of the feed lips don't help. No biggie either way. The recoil on the other hand is already being addressed. This thing is much lighter than it looks. I've got a huge squishy buttpad coming and will have an extra 5.4 oz 9mm buffer to try here soon. I'm hoping to avoid the big goofy tank brakes but that might be the way to go.

Absolutely a beast round. Love my 450 bushmaster in my Ruger American Ranch. Do yourself a favor and take that muzzle brake off. It directs the "boom" right back on you. I took mine off and put the thread cover piece on. Now it puts the "boom" out the front. Not a real big difference in recoil. Just a suggestion but my dad and oldest brother followed my lead. Hhaa. Great video. I use Hornady Black 250 grain HTX. I've killed 6 deer with mine. Every one dropped in their tracks. Out to 203 yards. Dropped a doe in her tracks. Shot her just below the white patch in throat. Dead before she hit the ground. Gonna check into the BearCreek rounds. WHO_TEE_WHO

IDK what the price difference is between the Federal and the Bear Creek and if I'm hunting it really doesn't matter that much for a box of ammo. I like the extra expansion we see with the Federal, especially when you take into account that they both had the same amount of penetration. Great video brother W_T_W.

I just did take 4 Tylenol ..... Tell ya what.. Years ago when I switch for a 170 grain 30-30 bullet to a 150 grainer the results were very impressive. I never had to track a deer and in fact several dropped on the spot. The extra speed and expansion really made a difference. And that was on North Eastern US deer.

I've got an idea for some more 450 bushmaster videos. I've been told it makes a good "brush gun", so why not compare it against your other brush guns ( like 30-30 ) in gel, and maybe setup some targets on the other side of some bushes/cover, and see how well it does. Maybe you could even find some soft points, or round nosed bullets for it

Brush gun in the sense of a heavy bullet bookin it at a decent pace. This will out perform 30-30, and .270 all day long. Plus you can get it on an AR platform instead of ye ol' lever actions. Its closest contender would be the 30-06 and that would be great to get into ballistic coefficients and what not to see what it is more superior.

Tommy I have a Howa 1500 450 Bushmaster bolt action 16" barrel the Federal 300gr. will not cycle in mine , I have to hand fed one at a time and will not print well out of the box. Hand loaded Hornaday 300gr. xtp with LiL Gun, 296 , 4227 from low -high from Hornaday book all shoot good I am going to get some 250 ftx hoping they will cycle with the pointed tip Who Tee Who you have a good channel keep the coming.

I researched 458 vs 450 vs 50 Beowulf for MONTHS trying to decide which I wanted.....ballistics are *VERY* close on all three within “reasonable distances” (out to about 150-200 yards). Each caliber has a VERY slight advantage (theoretically) in one or another aspect.....BUT the Biggest difference is cost per round and 450 bushmaster wins this hands-down every time!!! More popular = more manufacturers producing ammo = considerably less expensive AND available almost anywhere you buy ammo from. Decision made, rifle built and I LOVE IT!!! 💥💨

That 240 gr pointed bullet ought to do quite well in the hunting woods. I do not own a .450 bushmaster but in 2019 I harvested my elk at 266 yards with a .444 marlin with a 240 grain pistol shaped bullet. It was a very clean kill and the elk dropped on the spot not taking another step. My bullets from the .444 have a 15 foot velocity of 2416 fps. So the 450 bushmaster should probably do better with the pointed bullet at longer distances.

I have a Savage 110 450 BM dropped one deer at about 120 yards another one at about 60 mist a deer I shot at out there at about the 200 yard line. That's my score so far with the bushmaster here in Michigan
