I enjoyed this video a few weeks ago, Nige but was away at the time (something of an alien concept now!). A superb video of the tour - the sound and performance climbing Copy Pit makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, wonderful. Great view from up there, and in the sun too - can't complain! Many thanks, David.

Thanks David, much appreciated, an excellent performance by the Jubilee and crew I must say with the weather being very kind also, certainly nice to see a west bound Cotton Mill as they are a rarity nowadays and also one of my favourite routes, would love this to become a regular route again when this crisis is over but we may be in for a long wait, the time will come, in the meantime stay safe, kind regards nige

That's four fantastic captures thoroughly enjoyed, thanks Nige, no mean achievement for one train and a brilliant result. Galatea and crew putting on a truly remarkable performance with some slightly kinder weather than of late. Kind regards, Bob.

Thanks Bob, it was a long day with plenty of leg work involved but the results speak for themselves, all credit to the WCRC for the performance of Galberta and the excellent footplate crew, yes with another storm forecast it wasn't looking good but it went our way for a change, I bet the passengers enjoyed it as much as we did, cheers nige

Galatea/Alberta reminding us just how fiercely taxing so many of the railway routes were in the industrial Pennines in the steam era - modern traction makes it all seem so effortless. Great video.

excellent coverage of 45562 (45699) Nige, does you video camera have longer focal range than Steve's, particularly like the Ripley bank shot. missed this one, went north to Grayrigg for 35018 & 46115.
@nige75774 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul, not sure what Steve's goes up to, mine is only 12 x optical + up to 23 intelligent zoom, where we went on Ripley bank all the trees have been cleared so makes access a lot better now, we decided to go for this as a west bound over Copy Pit is a bit of a rarity nowadays, cheers nige

Evening Paul, my camera has probably a similar focal range like Nigel’s but I tend to set my camera at fixed point and very rarely zoom back 👍

(Review of Review of Reviews) "This sort of thing should be included in the Brit Awards" (Vague) " Nige757 showed astonishing astuteness in his choice of angle on Miles Platting; the bit with the units didn't come over as a 'bowl' in the slightest way" (1968 And All That)

Thanks Ralph, thanks for watching, you certainly got the right day for it, we had a mate on board as well and he said it was something special, takes some beating over Copy Pit so hopefully when things get back to the near normal we can see this line used more like it used to be, regards nige

Your coverage just gets better each outing. p.s. Please dont go down the route that others seem to be taking of uploading at 50 or 60 fps. Many people will struggle to stream footage at these fps because of low powered computers or slow internet connections and have to watch at 480p to avoid buffering or stuttering. Your material looks just fine at 1080p/25fps on a laptop screen. No need for higher frame rates.
@nige75774 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stephen, that's very kind and much appreciated, no worries there as I've no intention of changing the uploading from what it is, cheers nige

Who’s Paul Riley 🤔
@andrewelliott44362 жыл бұрын
@@nige7577 Paul Riley took the definitive photo of "Alberta" in 1967. At the time, the engine - and "Kolhapur"- always worked the summer Saturday Birmingham/Glasgow over the S&C. You could try putting Paul Riley into Google (I never have) and you might find something. He died falling off the Victoria Bridge on the Severn Valley

@@nige7577 It really was The End - nobody foresaw the preservation movement. And the railway was all that Riley had lived for. I remember talking to two fifteen year old shed labourers one night in Hartlepool roundhouse. They both admitted to being frightened of the steam engines - and both would have been redundant within six months.

When will some so called 'enthusiasts' realise that even with a 'diesel' on the back that in (many cases) it is adding to the weight of the train (approx. equivalent of two extra coaches pus)as it is being dragged rather than 'assist!!!!!!!!!) I am amazed that some people haven't noticed the length of Platforms on many stations still that Steam Trains with their rake of coaches would take up the space or/and looked at some Railway books from the Steam Era to see the length of the trains.
