Today we continue with the 12 gauge Mossburg 500 project. We sand and flush up the Recoil Pad to the stock. We then strip, sand down, stain and refinish the stock. This has been the perfect gunsmithing project Shotgun for working on and practicing the craft.
Thanks for watching.

Looks good. Your metal looks almost pristine. When I refinish my Birch stocks I've learned to de-whisker twice, Pre-Condition twice, then add two coats of stain. I gave up the BLO for Tru Oil. I'm may buy a Western Field 16 gauge soon as a new project. It'll need rebluing though..

That turned out really nice man, I've been trying my hand at carving different stock types for my remington 870, this series has taught me quite a bit here and there.

Thanks for watching. Carving is something I am thinking of, just have not got there yet. Check out the Instagram or Facebook page and see some of The old gunsmiths carvings.

Birchwood Casey's stock finishing oil is a linseed base with dryers so it dries. Boiled linseed oil takes forever. Its obsolete.

There is no such thing as a nice looking Mossberg. They are all junk. I have had them, never again.....but I am here for the refinish job. :)
