Svetlana was recruited even before she graduated from dance academy the Vasagnova into the Maranisky theatre in St. Petersberg where she started doing solos prior to being promoted to prema ballerina. Later she joined the Bolshoi theater where she remained. Years of hard work, dedication and striving for perfection , she is one of the greatest ballerinas of her generation. 😊

Growing up in NY, US, I was privileged to see may theatrical performances. I learned to appreciate fine arts & value cultural diversity. I enjoyed many shows but my most cherished memories where at the Russian Ballets. Even as a child the experience was divinely captivating & truly magical! Every detail was perfect & the dancers were magnificent! After 6 decades of admiration, I believe Russian's are the World's best! Their expression of beauty is beyond words!

А мне кажется наш советский балет двинула вперёд художественная гимнастика современная- периода Ирины Винер .Смотрю на Захарову- растяжка гимнастическая,в советское время балерины утверждали,что у них угол поднятия ноги четко прописан и выше им поднимать нельзя,это уже не классический балет.Но смотрю,всё-таки ноги до ушей это красиво и перешпагат лучше,чем прыжки с висячей задней ногой.Мне нравится именно такой балет.

I know right?! It does seem that ballerinas' bird-like frames should never be able to support muscle enough to do what they do. However, a big part of ballet training is structured around how muscle is worked. Daily, and without fail, ballet dancers take a ballet class and every muscle that is repetitively used is subsequently stretched out. If they didn't do this they'd end up looking like body builders. Absolutely beautiful and we train so hard and give every performance every muscle posture pose on toes we have and we give it all gracefully. I no longer do this but once a ballerina, always a ballerina at heart. I had 4 children and became a nurse and my four all are grown in their early 20’s and my youngest is 18. So, I gained weight and I live a family and food life now.😂
