Oh, I am so disappointed about Milkman. I'm in my 60s and had a game when I was little where a milkman went around delivery milk and we had little milk crates with bottles that fit in them. I loved that game and hoped this would be great and remind me of that childhood game!

I love these reviews! I think it would be nice to know how many times you guys played the games. That would add a depth to the reviews, like how much you were willing to play it again. I know that experienced board games don't need a lot of plays to get a good grasp on how good the game can be, but maybe that's a thing to consider. 😁

I would highly disagree with your review of Milkman. For what it is, it’s a fun game. I’d say 7.5, maybe 8 out of 10. I’d give it another shot.

Don't confuse having issues with a game with "disliking" the game. A BGG 6 is "OK", not "Good." A 6 means that you'll play it, but you'll probably vote to play something else if given the chance.

If you think that 1) you must not have been around the hobby for a while. Tom has been doing this for longer than almost anyone and doing a good job, 2) what is disrespectful exactly? That he gave fast reviews? Games are not people. That he gave fast reviews? Do not mistake brevity for flippancy.

I think he gave 6’s to 4’s. I also had a twinge of thinking this is harsh but our hobby is attracting predatory garbage mill types who just pump out low quality with catchy titles, basically cardboard clickbait

Fast reviews are disrespectful? Nope. Reviews are disrespectful if they say a bad game is bad or an average game is average? Nope. There are thousands of games released every year, most of them average trash shovelled out to make a quick buck and move on. Most of these games will be forgotten about by this time next year. Grow up, please.

It's worth thinking about what is different here than in the past. When he was doing a small number of full reviews each week, he'd only put the time into the games that were popular, or he felt deserved a review. With this format, he can at least comment on the games that are a 6 and below, without having to ignore them completely.
