In my state insurance follows the car not the driver. So say you and Austin have separate car insurances for 2 separate vehicles (you own one and he owns one). If you were driving his car and got in an accident then his insurance would be the one to cover the accident. Some states now allow significant others to be on their insurance as long as they live in the same house. So you may need a bill, your DL, or even if your name is on the deed for the house so you and he can both be on their same insurance. For anyone who is reading - if you are at the age or stage in life where you need to get off your parent’s insurance, if you were listed on your parent’s insurance most insurance companies will give you a discount if you stay with the company your parent’s had their car insurance through because you are considered a “pre-existing” customer due to being on your parent’s insurance.

I’m also hoping to find a lower premium for insurance but need to wait another year for my two accidents to fall off,( one was major and I was completely in the clear, the other was my fault but no other vehicle involved). You’re right, that is a ton of money for your tax person; I would shop around. 💛

They should let you in his insurance but I’m not sure how it would work specifically since you have your own car. It might only cover you if you are driving his car or your car is in his name ya know? Also depending on how long your accident was it may raise is payment. Some companies go back 3-5 years for accident records. Also girlie go to Turbo or HnR block for your taxes so much cheaper! You can also work with agents and only pay like $100-$200 dollars.
