Ive been looking for videos of this ilk. I have been under the damn thing quite a few times trying to figure out why mine jumps from drive to neutral on a ridiculously bumpy road. I've looked at that bushing but it doesn't look like thats the issue.

How did adjust the selector position? My Durango just started this same issue I was on my home and stopped at my pharmacy and it wouldn’t go into park? So I just came home and parked it in neutral that was 3 days ago I was sick now I’m feeling lil better and worried about Durango I need it I’m hoping this is the same issue I’m having it sounds like it, if not what else could be My issue?

So I’ve been watching a couple of your vids to see how I feel about getting the v10. I found one with 68,000 original miles on it. I’m just nervous about the transmission especially with 2nd gens. I’m by no means worried about the engine. I just wanna know your thoughts on it. Do I put trust into this truck? Also it’s for $6500 which makes me want it even more

Find a decent same year Cummins. Swap it all out and make sure ya get the nv4500 combo. Axles too. Wiring etc. it all swap out pretty easy. Did it myself in a matter of a couple weeks just in free time with some tools and no help other than my engine crane obviously.

Hey Shawn I was wondering what borla exhaust you have and I just bought a 3rd gen v10, any tips on what are some first things I should do
@shawnedwards27004 жыл бұрын
I have Borla XR-1 Muffler. It's more of a resonator than anything. First thing I'd do is check it over real good. Compression check on all cylinders and check fuel pressure at idle, and make sure it doesn't leak down after turning off. After that is trans filter and fluids, and maybe adjust the bands for good measure. You need to have good o2 sensors and and spark plugs. If it seems to be in great working order get it tuned by Flyin Ryan Performance and just drive it. Especially on the 93 octane tune. You can purchase a larger throttle body from Fastman and maybe add a K&N FIPK intake for good measure. As for headers Jegs and Summit carries them. JEGS also carries the stage 1 cam and most after market stuff will be listed for the 5.9 V8. The pistons, rods, rockers, valves and few other things interchange. Nothing interchanges from the Viper Motor.

@@damonshaw4589 Yes. They kill these engines. The amount of back pressure they cause ruins the valve seals and head gaskets. No other engine has this to worry about. But that's what ya get with an older engine with 8 litres of displacement.

How does your trans behave during shifting. I fear my solenoid pack in my durangos 545RFE is going out. It shifts slow. It almost feels like it comes out of gear, rides the converter for a second, and then goes into the next gear. It doesnt feel like it just shifts directly into the next gear.
@shawnedwards27004 жыл бұрын
Mine pushes me into the seat with each gear depending on throttle. Low stall torque convertor, upgraded valve body, etc. So if you floor itll spin or chirp the tires into each gear. I have a 47re.

He man been watching your videos been building my v10 for the past two years it’s my pull truck and I still daily it but I’m about to turbo it I got a diesel performance shop in Wisconsin you should ad me on Facebook and talk over the ideas about turboing the v10s I know you mentioned wanting to do it in one of your past videos and I have the ability to do it in my shop and about to do it to my personal v10 (aka hillbilly deluxe )
@shawnedwards27004 жыл бұрын
That would be pretty amazing but I doubt the stock fuel pump, injectors, and tune is going to be easy to handle. I ditched the idea because I had no aftermarket fueling ideas and no one to tune it correctly without wanting to take advantage of you and charging way too much.

Any advice? I have the same issue, no park, my park is reverse. But also, to put it in park I have to slap it down into 1st. I have nothing in between, just reverse (park) and 1st (drive). Doesn't start unless I'm in 1st
@shawnedwards27002 жыл бұрын
The rod underneath needs adjusted. It has a bolt that'll need loosened first. It's not exactly easy, but not difficult. You'll find the rod on the driver side, next to the trans, behind where your clutch pedal would be. It either needs raised or lowered an inch or 2. Then you'll need to fine tune the dash area with the adjustable knob behind the big cover under the steering console.

I'll talk more about that in my next video. I'll can tell you this though, the V10 will not be staying in the truck. As rare as it is I've lost interest in the motor over the past 6 years of running it. No aftermarket, very few swappable parts, and alot is getting discontinued every year.

My sole issue was a bushing that rod fell out of while doing the engine swap. It shifted fine at the lever but bc it wasn't aligned correctly in the little black bushing it caused the shifter to not be allowed all the way forward. Sorry for the crappy video I didn't realize I didn't put all the clips im till now
