Jordan and Brook, let me tell you how awesome it is to always see you both together! My wife and I are the same way and so many people are freaked out about that. All I know is that I love spending time with my best friend, especially when we are outside camping and fishing! Keep it up and keep on bringing us amazing and fun content. All of us here that watch your channel as soon as you drop a video learn a lot, but also feel like we are right there with you!

So cutting vs plucking. If you've spent ANY amount of time around foragers, you know that is a hot button issue. But, I'm a plucker. Look up the Oregon Cantharellus Project. Oregon State University did a 10+ year study on a plot of land where they picked on one side and cut on the other. They found that it made no difference in amount harvested over the years.

butter clams are An actual species. Those are Manila little neck clams, And they look NICE! They do pretty much make the best steamers. The trick to getting them without a bunch of sand clams or broken ones Is to dig a hole a couple of spades worth deep. The water will begin to fill this pool. Use this water to slosh the sides of the hole. The soil will break where it's weakest, And that would be where climb necks have created fractured the soil. Suddenly a clam appears on the edge of your hole with a clear neck line. You know that one's not sand! Also if the hinge is pointed away from the sea, This is a again a Sand clam. So that's slosh with water so that's not too break shells, Look for Neck siphon holes, and hinge to the sea! Try that to avoid Sand clams.

Jordan please tell all of us how you purge the clams? I think viewers would like to know. And I am so happy you're going to catch, clean and cook a salmon, just don't release it ok!😊
@mikedegnan5252
@mikedegnan5252 8 ай бұрын
Purging clams is easy. Just fill a bucket with saltwater. They'll purge themselves. All they do is flush the sand out of themselves.
@billt6116
@billt6116 8 ай бұрын
You will need a bucket of clean seawater, And some of the old-timers like to put a bit of white corn meal in it. The clams will take in the corn meal, And expectorate all the sand. My dad would keep them overnight, Stirring occasionally to spook the clams and cause them to squirt. By the next day, The clams were sort of stuffed, And when you steamed them, they turned out much better. Part of it is also in the digging of the clams . If you do not see a siphon hole going to the surface of the sand from the clam in question, That clam is dead. The only exception I can think of being cockles. They have a roughly scallop like shell, And no siphon.

I've been watching your videos since you started it and the other one. Some of the stuff you cook looks very delicious. But I have one question. From one fisherman to another. How do you bring your fishing rod's with but not your fishing gear. To me that is a rookie move. Not to be rude. But is funny. Also I know the river you were fishing on.
