Wow. Found a hidden gem of a beer paradise - this place 'Lille' goes on my bucket list. I like three essential parts of TopJaw videos, which were amply present in this episode - 1. Watching you go high on all the liquids - with both Jesse and Will looking as if they are completely smashed. 2. The food coma that one can see on Jesse's face when he is having something delicious. 3. Excellent! I visited Lille from London back in March this year and like you say, place is easier to get to than most places in the UK up north. Weather was similarly grey like your trip but it's so beautiful to look at. It's small and you can walk to most places easily and just get lost. I'd definitely recommend visiting Lille zoo which is excellent and great value for money. That street Tamper! is on has some amazing artisanal food places too. It's all great and definitely worth a one or two nighter Just a word of advice, it's not the most vegetarian friendly city. So if you look the like of a place and have a veggie in your party it will be difficult. The meaty dishes were bloody great though

Haha I often saw Mama's Shelter when I passed by, and always wondered what it was. It sure looks amazing in your video ! You really visited at the right time, Mama's Shelter and Grand Scène weren't there a few years ago. The "Petit Pouchin" sound very chti (="Northern") for "petit poussin" (little chick). We call cute children "mon petit poussin". Noow You have to know that the local Anthem is "le petit quinquin", a Dickensian song about a toddler crying his eyes out as starvation prevents him from taking a nap. His Mum sings him the Lullaby "dors min ptit pouchin min gros rogin" (standard French "dors mon petit poussin mon gros raisin), both terms of endearment. So a native lilloise would immediately link the cake to a lovely cuddleworthy toddler with a pinch of localism. :-)
