As always, thank you. Who doesn’t adore Mr Horner. He was taken too soon. This is a most distinctive score that I would never have recognized. Thanks as always for the treat. This music mirrors the intensity of the film for sure!

Officer Jack Cates (Nick Nolte) finds himself to be the lone survivor of a cop shooting and wants to hunt down the responsible. For that plan he gets the former partner of the murderer from jail to help but - only for 48 hours. Reggie Hammond (Eddie Murphy) is the absolute opposite of his new partner and together both provide one of the best buddy-flicks. Speaking of providing… James Horner, then at the relatively early days of his career, supplied a wonderful effective score that made him an easy choice to score more action movies during the 80s and 90s. A small and unusual trademark for those works is the use of steel drums. Enjoy!

This amazing soundtrack from the movie starring Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy shows great work and range Mr. James Hohner. He was a composer. Good man. He was gone too soon. Heart, prayers and condolences to his family. He is dearly missed - R. I. P.

Wow. You learn something new every day. I was unaware that this was one of James Horner's scores. He was a busy artist during this era of film scores. I hate the fact that people always bring up his 'recycling' as if he was the only guy that ever did it. He was a great composer with a distinctive style. This was a great film and the sequel was equally good. Good score and good suite. Thanks Fred.

Grande Fred❤👍🏻 Grande James Horner. PS: Excuse the absence. I have already returned from my holiday in Morocco.🇲🇦😎 If you want, photos and videos of Morocco you can see them in my Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. I warn that the images are more than 100!

Hello, Fred! This is the " Schifrin /Dirty Harry " portion of a Horner early in his career, with heavy drums, sax and bass. There are, however, concerns typical of the 80's: a more synthetic touch than Schifrin's organic and the creation of some melody more assimilable, more commercial, non - existent thought in the dark dissonant chords of the Argentinian jazzman in the 70s. To check the versatility of our dear Horner, just list what he did before ( " Battle Beyond the Stars ",1980 ) and what he would do right after ( " Brainstorm ", 1983, in my opinion his best score ). The most interesting of all this is that Horner, when studying at the Royal College of Music, in London, thought of pursuing a career as an avant - garde composer, which means that his " embryo " was even closer to " dissonant chords " than the veteran colleague Schifrin!! Thanks and bye!!!

I really like him, but Horner was a shameless recycler fetching "inspiration" anywhere. ;-) I just yesterday listened to Red Heat and ... well, you know.

I don't disagree... had some serious bright spots though (like SNEAKERS, for example). I'd consider this one of them - even if he later used its signature 7 notes in films like CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER and elsewhere.
