The last time you saw us we spent Thanksgiving aboard the NEW vessel Slainate. Now that she is trucked home to Southern NJ we need to get props and rudders on as well as navigational equipment before being launched. Everything was undertone wire to get home before the marinas close and the water has too much ice. Thankfully we got home safe thanks to Captain Rob and his Crew RJ. Shoutout to our onboard videographer ‪@rjmclok247‬ not sure Bailey's editing skills did it justice. Now we really can’t wait for summer!!!! Be sure to subscribe and welcome aboard!

I’m so impressed, great video great music, I just brought a 40 dancer home to New York from Florida, loved that you did the props and rudders by yourself and as a father I loved seeing your son involved and helping throughout all phases!!! Truly amazing nice job

Beautiful boat - that was when we were headed into the NJ deep freeze!!! Nothing like those first experiences on a new boat …. doesn’t come cheap, but given the unforgettable moments with family, it’s worth every penny!!! See you out on the Barnegat in Spring 😊

It was a great opportunity to spend some quality time together. Yes, it was kind of a bummer to haul it right away, but I have been down there every other weekend all winter long working on projects and prepping for next season. We are currently working on our next video to show you what we've been up to. We are getting close! Hoping to have it back in the water before the end of March. Slainte!

Hi fellow Jerseyans!Love your videos of your adventures. I’ve binge watched every one of your videos this weekend. I will keep an eye for your boat on the Barnegat Bay and when we go dock n dine at the Captain’s Inn. You have inspired me to go bigger lol so I’m looking now. Looking forward to watching your future trips.

That's a fun trip from the river to Cape May. Hopefully you guys walked over to the Lobster House or Lucky Bones to enjoy some of what Cape May has to offer! Also cool how the family met you at the dock when you got her home! Good luck with the rig.

Thanks, Gary! We did not make it to either of those places on this trip, but we have been to both on previous trips (kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3-lpJ-BepqMoNk). Cape May is really laid-back, and we enjoy going over to the boardwalk & Washington Street Mall, and bringing some seafood from Lobster House back to the boat to enjoy with the sunset. We will be back this summer - Slainte!

Amazing boat and experience with the journey. I hope you can get the new seat cushion replaced ASAP. My OCD was kicking in the whole time I was watching your video hoping the wind may have blown the cushion inside the cabin… oh well. Good luck on this upcoming season.
@thevesselslainte
@thevesselslainte Жыл бұрын
Haha, thanks Marco! That cushion is long gone I'm afraid, but all of those lower cushions were in pretty rough shape. They looked ok from 5' away, but when you got up close, they were cracked and waterlogged and stained. I was planning on replacing them anyway, but the having the old ones makes that job a lot easier (and cheaper). I made a new pattern out of cardboard and brought that to the upholsterer, so new ones are on the way. Slainte!

All the best toys require some assembly! The antennas and the arch all needed to come off of the roof to reduce the bridge clearance for the transport. It was a bunch of work, but it was the only way to get her home! Thanks for the comment.

Welcome to the 48 club! Like you, I also went from the 420 to the 48. Not a big jump in LOA, but a HUGE difference in boat. Congratulations. Quick question for you: How did you winterize the engines after haugling the boat at your home port?
@thevesselslainte
@thevesselslainte Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Jay! I know we are not the first to make this leap, but we are among the most excited! Much like my approach to the 420, I would much rather purge the water out of important places rather than flood it with pink stuff. For the engines, I followed the salt water circuit and drained all that I could find, starting with the strainer and running through the water pump and all of the zinc anodes on the engine/coolers until I got to the exhaust. I looked for additional drains, but didn't find any more. For the house water, I used a compressor to blow out the pipes through the shore-water connection. The main place that I used pink stuff was down the toilets and in the bilges. I certainly hope that I passed your 48 exam! Please share your approach. Slainte!
@jaydowling116
@jaydowling116 Жыл бұрын
@@thevesselslainte Not an exam by any stretch of the imagination. My boat stays in the slip year round and I use the pink stuff. I now have a 7 gallon plastic bucket fitted with a fitting and about 15 feet of 1" tubing. On the end I have a garden hose fitting. I purchased strainer caps with male garden hose adapters in them. I can almost do it by myself now, but it helps to have a buddy along so as not to drink alone when finished! Your videos are really well done. Yours, and many other, are what get me through the winter. Keep up the good work.

Was the Cape May canal open? How many gallons did you burn? I'm delivering my Portsmouth 43 from Rock Hall to FR State Marina in June.
@thevesselslainte
@thevesselslainte Жыл бұрын
Hi Gene - the Cape May Canal is always open, and we did a Chesapeake trip a couple years ago (more videos on the channel from that trip that may be helpful to you). We get about 0.55 NMPG on this new boat, so I estimate that we burned 225 gal on our trip. I'm guessing that the mileage on your 43' would be more like 0.7 NMPG (similar to our 420 Sea Ray, assuming diesel), so I think you are looking at about 250 gal for your trip. You will go right by our slip on your way to the State Marina so give us a holler if you see us! Good luck on your trip!

How come u couldn’t ship to forked river or lbi ? I love your boat smart buying off a lake
@thevesselslainte
@thevesselslainte Жыл бұрын
Great question, James. My initial request was to have it trucked all the way to our home marina in Forked River. However, one thing that we learned during this process is that overhead clearance is everything. The truck has to have a route plotted that allows the proper amount of clearance (> 15' in our case), and apply for permits in each state. That route plotting only involves the major highways, and does not include minor roads and local roads. The further the truck has to go off of those major routes, the greater the chances that they could encounter trees, wires, traffic lights, etc. that are hanging lower than the required height. That could lengthen the trip, or worse - damage the boat. The safest bet was to pick a spot as close to the highway as we could. In this case, Salem was not too far from the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Also remember that we were doing this in late December just before Christmas, so some of my other destination choices were closed for the season. I hired an experienced trucking company and although there was some negotiation involved, I chose to rely on their guidance. In the end, I think Lockview did a great job and I would not hesitate to recommend them.
