Why do people out west pull their boats straight in? Are you not allowed to back into your space? Probly a dumb question I know but curious..

Is the condition of the boat due to a lack of regular maintainance or poor craftsmanship? The teak, stainless, cockpit flooring, sun beds, cabinetry etc. all look terrible!
