I learned to back up before I learned to go forward. Haha. Ran a yard dog for a bit in the beginning, sure taught me a lot about backing maneuvers, especially when we get in tight truck stops etc

I was involved in a pileup outside New Orleans years ago and a truck slid in between two others and a pipe just like those slid into the back of the cab through the sleeper. The driver was ok and actually climbed through the pipe to get out. Never forget that one!

That looks like a load of utility poles or pieces of a utility structure from good ol' Sabre Industries in Alvarado, TX. I remember when that plant was built around 2000 or 2001. Or was that Fort Worth Tower? Same ownership...

Know what you mean Bill Long.I actually remember real truck stops,not the bull shit like the Service Centers they got now.Real restaurants for truckers only,most always had some parking,and they respected the drivers.Those were the days.Long gone now 😭

I live in STL today all the roads were covered in ice. Oh and just a note we like to put salt on our roads until there is no more road visible. Make sure to get a good undercarriage wash. Sorry you had to come on one of our worst days.

I think you did good Dan. We have had ice here in northeast Oklahoma since Sunday afternoon. There has been a lot of wrecks here in Oklahoma the last couple of days. My son was reading a list of 100s of wrecks that OHP has work today. It gave how many non-injury and injury and fatal they had worked today. Be glad you play it smart and drove the extra miles. God bless and stay safe.

Sir Dan !!!! Thanks for the video !!! From where you are in AR.. ,,you could run US 67 North to St. Louis instead of running I-55 out of Memphis !!! Shorter Route !!! ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!!!
@vegaslimoguy23763 жыл бұрын
I'm sure he knows about 67 and that is a less traveled and goes through every little Podunk town as well. And those roads aren't treated with salt as well as interstate 55 is. I'm sure he doesn't need any guidance on which roads to go. Remember shorter isn't safer, especially in the winter time.

Dan i have got a question for you and maybe you have the answer for it . Your truck is almost23 years old so why not put new tanks on your truck and get it over with . If you take them apart you will have to replace the straps and gaskets and you might have a thin spot in the tank were the straps go which may cause a leak in your tank . If it were me i would look into new tanks and boxes for the truck i would take the safe way out and not get hit with a EPA charge or fine for any problems . Like i said that is just my way of thinking and doing things to keep working and staying safe ....

Yes a very wise decision going the long way as you found out. Coldest & snowiest since 2001 in Davenport Iowa. Don’t you have to flag the front hang over? Thanks

I drove a car carrier for years coast to coast and we had to flag any overhang 4’ beyond the tail lights. Never the front only the exposed overhang at the furthest point.

Nothing wrong with a driver investing in his truck to look good and taking pride in their ride. Not everybody wants to drive around in a shit box of a truck. As much time we spend in the truck, might as well love and enjoy what you drive.
