I was in Iowa last weekend, awful road conditions. From the Quad Cities to Amana I saw at least 100 cars and maybe 40 semis off the road, wrecked. I got to Waterloo and sat for 2 days. -15 degrees and roads that would have 3 inches of ice in spots and then clear pavement. That will yank you off in a hurry. Not worth tearing up equipment. Plus, I just got a brand new truck, no way I am going to destroy it in the first few days.
@michaelwillingham66713 жыл бұрын
Hello Dan do still have the newer truck. If so are you going to sale or just keep in case you have any big problems with the old truck.

I agree with you about driving on ice. I watched the video of the 100+ car pile up in Ft Worth where 5 people were killed, not a pretty site. 6" on the ground in the Cincinnati area, another 8" forecasted for Monday and Tuesday.......Stay safe and be careful....

Smart man. We got hung up twice cause of ice storms. Oklahoma and Texas. Prayers and R.I.P to those who were in the Fort Worth crash. We were in shock and Awe. Dan you made 100 % the right decision and it’s too darn bad for the agents etc. Real easy sitting at a desk than pushing 80,000 lbs down the ice. We detoured a total of 10 hrs. In a week to stay safe. Drove thru Oklahoma’s ice and made it. Whew !! Shiny side up rubber side down. Be safe Dan. All the best sir.

Im a truck driver myself as you know (maybe) and im doing that in europe. No money is worth the risk. My dispatcher told me once that i have to be on time at the customer. I told him GTFO and he didnt understand. He was a driver years ago himself but meanwhile he is under pressure by his boss and he dont give a shit about icy conditions. Well, i dont give a shit about their money cause i get my money all time, no matter if i driver or not. Im not paid by the mile. If its to risky, stand down and wait. You see what happens if you dont... Fort Worth Texas.... and Fort Worth was not worth the risk. 6 ppl died, 69 under serious conditions in hospital... nope, thats not worth it. About the outside temp and the gauge... You can buy s fit like that for about 20 bugs anywhere. Its a small temp sensor with a small lcd thing and a few cables. May help you out.

Great video Dan. That road didn't look that bad. I was over in Missouri delivering a load some of the curve on that road my tractor was in one lane and the trailer was in the other. One of them I had my right tractor tires in the gravel on the shoulder and my trailer tires was about three feet from the other one. Have a safe drive keep standing for what you know is right. Icy roads are not to be messed with. The people up north have had more experience driving on it than the ones down south. They are having multi car pileups in Texas. My sister lives in the Austin area they had a 70 some car pileup down there and over 100 in one by Fort Worth. They are saying 10 to 15 inches of snow here in northeast Oklahoma Sunday night and Monday. Stay safe and warm. God bless.
