It would be nice if this was “plug and play” on the CT. Unfortunately for a 3T truck with a 1+T payload this is asking a lot of this winch.

Carbon Winch will release a 48V version with 12,000lb or 14,000lb winch at beginning of next year. The value of this at 48V is it can run at rear of truck without massive cabling and buffer batteries in the rear.

Hey Bruce, another question. Could you run this 48v winch (48v black box) directly from a 48v alternator WITHOUT a battery? 48v, 5kw alternator Application for a 48v Isuzu NPS Truck camper with a slide on habitat. 48v battery pack would be in the Slide on camper, which would be taken off when we want to do some offroading. So there would still be the 48v alternator, but no battery
@Safiery Жыл бұрын
No you cant. 48V alternators must have a 48V battery attached. they are fraught with load dumps and we are reluctant to sell them except in some marine applications. However, just run a 24-48V Scotty AI and it can run the winch directly without a battery provided we add a "pre-charge" device. About $50. That is cheaper and safer than a 48V alternator and a 48V battery.
@terrydou7938 Жыл бұрын
@@Safiery okay. I think I'm going to have to email you again sometime soon Bruce. A single Scotty can't deliver 5kw from a 24v alternator to a 48v battery bank can it? 3kw only right?

@@Safiery better to just have a full 48v system for the whole vehicle like the Cybertruck….

Hey Bruce, i know its still a long time coming, but quick question. Do you think you would be able to have 2 winches (1 front and 1 rear) running off the one "black box" with a switch of some form? Building an expedition truck, and the idea of having 2 winches is incredible.
@carbonoffroad_australia Жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, There are a number of ways to achieve what you want. It's entirely possible. For example if you are already running a standalone CAN Bus control system, we could integrate the ESCs into that, so you could control the winches from the main screen inside the cabin for example, as well as seperately using the 2.4Ghz wireless controller. The flexibility of our system is huge. We are producing the first production order at the moment and hope to be on the market around October or November 2023. - Dan

It's about time someone brought out a speed controlled 48v winch . What's the plan for powering these long term. Extra 48v alternator with the 48v battery?
@Safiery Жыл бұрын
No need for 48v alternator. Just Scotty of factory 12v 150A+ and 2 batteries
@carbonoffroad_australia Жыл бұрын
it could be as Bruce mentioned with his setup or could be as simple as 4 x 12v Lead acid batteries connected in series for 48V or add one more for 60V.

@@timmo42 No I have no idea what they have available to tap. I run an 800V Ioniq 6 which has 3.6kW vehcle to load and I can run a fridge off it all the time while driving. it will only deliver V2L when parked up. The Ioniq 6 has a small 12V battery critical to run the micros' and they dont allow extended 12V DC power either. Only a pair of USB C's. These EV's have not been designed to accomodate "off road" acessories. The good news is that it will come and probably very soon...
