I just upgraded my machine which was the Dell Precision T3500, to a Dell Precision T7810 Dual CPU's. My T3500 was upgraded with an Xeon x5690 (3.4GHz 6 cores 12 T), and 24GB of ram, dual 256GB SSD on raid 0 and a 4TB 72k HDD, i have an 4GB EVGA Geforce GTX 960 as well. This machine lasted me for 6 years and i still have it, and it's still very fast. So if you can find one and upgrade to it's max like i did (parts are much cheaper), you will have a nice little machine that will still perform well.

One of these is my daily use machine. I was given it, boosted the ram to 24 gig, and replaced the gpu and it serves it's purpose amazingly well as a full mutlipurpose machine.

@@tejodiste8699 Uhh, it wasn't just me, it's was 23 other people including the guy who made the video! And I was just pointing out the big elephant in the room, which was greatly hindering my enjoyment of the video. This was after all probably the highest background noise I've ever witnessed in a video! Nothing dumb on trying to get better viewing pleasure for everyone 💁‍♂️

Add a x5687 which is ~$17 on aliexpress shipped. This cpu is 4 cores 8 threads 3.60 ghz base with a 3.86 ghz boost. Add a 1050ti (only off pci express power) or a rx 570 with 6pin power (included on the psu) and you have a dank budget gaming pc which will knock most console's dork in the dirt.

BTW W3520 is a 4 core 8 thread 2.66 ghz to 2.93 ghz boost cpu. You have to go into the bios and check hyper threading to make your current cpu have 8 threads. Your Cinebench score will be much higher.

Hacksaw Mender - I was planning on buying a Dell Precision T3500 and upgrade the cpu to the X5690. Whatever the number was it worked because they were plenty of youtube vs fps comparisons. My question to you would be would If I would be better off getting the max cpu upgrade that was a 6 core 12 thread. People had Amd ryzen 5 3600 comparisons and the Ryzen won in gaming but the Dell Price was cheaper. I put 3 xeon cpus on Amazon in my cart to choose from. X5675, x5660 and I think x5690. My main question is wouldn't I be better off getting the 6 core 12 thread. over the cpu you suggested. The cpu is $60.00. I may have those first two cpu numbers wrong but they were cheaper.

@@Bulldawgfan I've got a Xeon X5675, 6 core in mine. With hyperthreading enabled it's great to be able to assign 4 virtual cores to a pair of VMs. Also, the newer Xeon chips support more than 24GB of memory, mine's got 48 GB (bought used) but remember it's an EEC board. I recommend the 6 core chips, they make a great machine!

You don't have Hyper-threading enabled in the bios. W3520 should be 4 cores and 8 threads. Dell disables Hyper-threading by default on these machines for some reason. Enable Hyper-Threading and it should boast speed by 33%.

Nice video and great deal. I am using a somewhat more recent Dell Precision T1600 with a Xeon E3-1245 v1 and swapped out the original PSU and upgraded the GPU to an Nvidia GTX 1650. Works great.

I scored T3500 and T5400 free. I took 875W PSU and extra cooling fans from T5400. Just ordered W3680 and Im going to overclock it to over 4GHz with Throttlestop. For GPU I have now GTX 960 2gb but maybe I upgrade it :) 12GB ram 10600E maybe going to uprade it to 18GB or 24GB

Hey guys, I just scored two T3500's from a engineering company for only $10 each !! Thought I couldn't lose much on these and am considering some upgrades. They have the W3530 CPU's, 12 GB ram, Nvidia Quadro 2000 1Gb Graphics cards. But no hard drives included. Is it worth upgrading the graphics cards ? What would you suggest so that it isn't overkill and/or bottleneck in the cpu, etc?. I am also considering upgrading the cpu with a used X5735 , as they are only about $20 cad on AliExpress.

I picked up one of these Dell Precision T3500 workstations with an Intel Xeon W3550 Quad-Core CPU at 3.07GHz and 14GB RAM, for approximately $70 from eBay. While it didn't come with a hard drive, I was able to salvage two 1TB hard drives from my old dearly-departed Lenovo IdeaCentre B320 all-in-one desktop. One of those two hard drives is a solid state hybrid drive, which I currently use as my primary drive, while my second is a traditional drive, which I currently use as my secondary storage drive. I installed Windows 10 Pro on my primary drive using the Windows 7 Pro product key that was included with my Dell Precision T3500. It came with a 256MB ATI FireMV 2260 graphics card, which I swapped out with a more powerful 1GB Dell-branded NVIDIA Quadro 600 graphics card. I also installed an internal Blu-ray Disc writer, which serves as my secondary DVD drive. I also plan to upgrade my Precision T3500's RAM to a maximum of 24GB. I currently have no plans to upgrade my system's Xeon CPU at this time. I also have a refurbished Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with an Intel Core m3-6Y30 Dual-Core CPU at 0.90GHz/1.51GHz, 4GB RAM, and 128GB SSD. I still intend to use said system for drawing cartoons and fan art; making 2D animated short films; and general use, such as browsing the Web, listening to music, and watching videos. As for my more resource-intensive tasks, such as video editing and the final composition of my 2D animated short films, my Dell Precision T3500 will be my new go-to system.

Buy an x5675 6core 12 thread xeon cpu at 3.0 Ghz. 20 bucks on ebay. If you dont mind slightly lower at 2.93Ghz the x5670 goes for 15 bucks on ebay. I also chose the X series because the max tdp is 95 versus 135w. Could the tower cooler handle 135w? Of course. Buttt i wanted to use a 6 pin gtx 1060 mini since the stock 525w power supply has a 6pin pci plug

I own this PC and its GREAT. Of course it will not play modern games as technology has improved in every way in 10 years. But your video is a joke as the machine wont play the game you want because of the video card you have installed. Upgrade the card and Direct X and it will play the game. This PC is awesome and an absolete workhorse.
