Certainly made heavy weather of the climb, spectacular to watch though I imagine!

Heavy weather’….the hills really got to a steam locomotive, that’s part of their draw, they had issues with climbing, but they would make it more often than not, there was a valiant atmosphere about them and the crew standing up in the cab coaxing the beast
