I have done this a lot and it is FAR easier than you think. Bolt on and bolt off. The clutches might be a pain cause you gotta plug the spark plug hole[part name unknown] So the piston wont rise and you can torque off the clutch nut(s). [I may be thinking of magneto removal] All you need is basic tools and the rest is easy. I dont THINK he mentioned the Reed Valves though? Unless he referred to them as ramps. (I think that's what he meant) But I did this stuff as a teen and I just had a basic socket set and screwdrivers. Pretty much all you need really.

Every state is the same anything over 49 cc or exceeds 30 mph requires a motorcycle license. If you change the transmission weights, intake, muffler and carburetor you'll be fine as long as you don't get caught breaking the moped speed limit.

On ebay there is a 100cc big bore kit $189 thats all you will need to max that 139qmb out just order 7G rollers as the kit brings 8G are to heavy... And you be good to go im at about 47mph keeping up with traffic also for the clutch just keep it stock i notes it runs batter... No overheating i used 10w 40 4T oil. NGK spark plug

(39mm is a 50cc) (44mm is a 60cc) (47mm is a 72cc known as 80cc) (50mm is a 80cc known as 100cc) (52mm is a 88cc known as 105cc) 47mm is good just will keep riding the white line as in the 50mm with everything else stock on your scooter will add more speed lest tuning there both good kits 47mm and 50mm.. I lives in BOSTON were we have alot of hills that 50mm do well on hills...

Rebuild completely in other words. Good overview of a huge project. I bet some people know what you're talking about, in detail! It's discouraging but actually I like it because it seems to cover every aspect of boosting these things. Thanks. Also, I wonder what "cc" equivalent power would result and what change on mpg would occur after doing this entire project on a typical 50cc delimited scooter such as Piaggio Typhoon with CVT (also are you taking into account the Continuously Variable Transmission models in your overview?).

Jay Dillon Thanks for the comment and compliments! On a QMB-139 chinese scooter, a 47mm bore kit boosts the motor to about 72cc's, and a 50mm bore kit boosts the motor to about 81cc's. MPG on a typical stock 50cc is anywhere between 80-120 mpg depending on rider weight, speed, conditions, etc. Average bore kit MPG that we've gotten in our shop is about 60 mpg, but again the MPG number will vary widely on a scooter from external factors. And yes, all of the transmission information in the video is referencing an automatic CVT transmission system. The information in this video will apply to pretty much any brand of scooter with a CVT trans.

Most of the mods are purposeful except for the "Engine Decompression Tube." 1) You don't relieve crankcase pressure from the bottom of the motor, that should be done from the head or valve cover. 2) The GY6 engine already has a vent hose in the valve cover exactly for the purpose of relieving positive crankcase pressure. There's no need for a "decompression Tube." It serves no real purpose other than putting a "hole" in the bottom of your engine for oil to escape and possibly spray all over the back of your bike. Plus, It deletes your oil dipstick. No Thanks...

Anything above 50cc in my state requires a motorcycle endorsement. Not everyone has one. These scooters are a great way to break into motorcycling. For inner city commuting they rock, easy to own, easy to park, cheap to repair, and easy on the pocket at the gas station.

I have a new 49cc TaoTao 400miles on it and every time I take of it doesn't want to go, it's struguling like if I wasn't gassing it specially on hills and 2 or 3 seconds later it goes. Help thanks

Hailey Phillips tao tao's are cheapest. $500-$700 brand new But im a fan of icebear a little more but not much. If you have the money maybe go Honda zuma or ruckus but they are around $3,000. Way to much for a 50cc bike i think. But they will last forever... Even the cheapest scoot tao tao atm50 $500 new can last a very long time if you take care of it

@@miguel360kmc LOL in the funny thing about it is even though TaoTao Oz are cheaper than ruckus's they're much more faster so obviously I'll go with the TaoTao if you tune it up and compare them in a street racing race obviously the TaoTao have a much more quicker acceleration and even top end speed compared to the Ruckus because something is more expensive doesn't make it better same thing like Hondas and Acuras that the cheapest of all cars but they can even be super more expensive cars cuz it's so much you can do to them they're lighter smaller. And they're just so much better at tuning why there so quick why so many people have them to start off at street racing

Yes the tao-tao is lightweight but out the box is lucky to go over 28mph. Ruck out the box will hit 36mph with a 197lbs rider (me) I've bought sold built over 16 dozen scooters mopads motorized bicycles 🚲💪... best scoots are Yamaha for modding Honda for stock riding GY6's for hot-rodding on a budget 😉.

If you insure it as a 50cc moped and convert it to a motorcycle you’ve created a problem. You are more likely to get caught speeding by law enforcement than your insurance appraiser. Speeding tickets are not good for your insurance premiums though

The second assumption is that riders are willing to do these mods and aren’t concerned about breaking the law. The third jump is that people will invest $500 into a bike that’s only worth 500 to begin with. Just cut the limiter wire and get a variator boss without a collar.

I would've said the same thing too because screw China and they're copying, polluting ass, however, one of these things basically fell in my lap and the parts are SO cheap and in 3 years all I've replaced is the carburator for 30 dollars and not a thing else. Aside from laying it down once when someone bumped me this cookie cutter, cheap as hell, Chinese thing has been rock steady. If you can turn a screw driver you can service and improve these things. They come assembled like ass from the factory, but a simple run through to tighten bolts, oil the bits that need oil, etc. Done, no problems. If there are problems... uhh... it's nearly cheaper to maintain than a regular bicycle.

Warm Weather Only - You are 100% ACCURATE on that. If its falls apart over time that means you. did not change out parts as ANY manual will state when to do so. If you after a couple of days or even months later notice it running not as it was or performance is weak then obviously you need to do a tune up. Checking your spark oil gas air flow clean the carb i use dawn dishwashing liquid i keep hearing about lemon juice but HAVE NOT tried. But yes if you treat it like s#!* then yea what you are going to have is a piece of S#!* Take care it and it will definetly take care of you and get you from point A to Your B destination.

There are a few reasons for """hot rodding""" a scoot 1st is its a life style and or hobby cheap and fun to do. 2nd in every state a 50cc scoot is easier to get on the road insurance plates whatever its easier and cheaper 3rd comes back around to 1 a little its 50cc scoots are great for 1st time riders learn a lot stock they are fun and get you around put around a extra $3-400 and it getz you there faster.. Bottom line its fun and cheap why watch a vid on modding 50cc scoots if you think its dumb
