Old video, but anyway, you should also consider how high the 6 weights can push your pulley up(in). You can file off as much as you want, but if the weights don't push your pulley all the way in, your belt is never going to reach the end of the pulley.

@HowToPillBananas10 жыл бұрын
I am sorry to tell you but there are 2 variations of the Piaggio Rear Pulley: The old one which measure 128mm and can be used for High end minarelli engines (which you obviously read on the net) and the newer 134mm that you used. The first are very easy to fit and work very very well. If you already figured that out and mentioned it in any of the videos I do apologize.
@49ccscoot10 жыл бұрын
No worries. I knew there had to be more than one because I had heard of 128 and 134mm, but I took what I was offered at a reasonable price because I had such a hard time finding anything here in the US or fairly cheap anywhere. Thank you for the info.

Also I’ve got a stock 50cc Malaguti Firefox f15 de-restricted by taking the thick washer out the variator & lighter rollers 4.5g polini air filter stock pipe quick throttle malossi 3g clutch & it hits 57mph. I’m getting a HMR 70 engine block for it, tbh I don’t see good power results in your Engine modifications ect

I'm 300 pounds. It makes a huge difference... put a 120lb passenger on your scoot with you and then see how quick it is compared to before. This was just my backup engine that sat on a shelf in case my 103cc wasn't running. A reliable 70cc that I would do 8-12 hour straight rides on without worry and not at all something that I was getting every last bit out of. It made a good test bed for this video series. Watch something like my 2020 Endless Summer Scootin' video to see a more recent setup.

excellent video ,,,,what about making a mini belt tensioner,, on a larger belt ?
@49ccscoot8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how that would work. If it put much tension on the belt it could change how it shifts. May take some effort to find a design that would actually work well. Seems like finding a belt best suited to the CVT would be an easier option.

you say that the stock variator fan usually has a lip where the drive boss meets up, mine had a washer in the lip.i drove the scooter with the washer and it had pretty good acceleration, i then removed it, i lost a little acceleration but only gained a few km/h. with the stock setup i get 81km/h, without the washer i get 83 km/h.
@49ccscoot9 жыл бұрын
anubis1100 I generally find the same as you with a stock setup. More modified/powerful engines tend to benefit more from removing the spacer for speed from my experience. The washer will let the belt ride low for better takeoff, but it may limit how far the variator closes.

Have you ever herd of the top performance rear pully for mineralli?? I think it’s 122mm not to much bigger but expensive too
@49ccscoot3 жыл бұрын
I've heard of them, but don't recall seeing them for sale for the Minarelli so I don't know much about them. 122mm would be an upgrade vs stock. These days, I think it's easier just to get a whole OR kit.

Hi man. Do you have tips on how to file the shim spacers to make the diameter smaller?
@49ccscoot5 жыл бұрын
I used to hold them with something and then use a bench grinder. Not perfectly round, but good enough. File after to remove any sharp edges. If you have a group of them, you may be able to use a bolt, nut and washers to make a holder for them. If you can hold them tight enough, you can machine a group of them all at once. Could even put the assembly into a drill to spin them and run them against a grinder or file. Someone on the forum did it that way. I did something similar, but used the lathe to machine down a bunch at one time.

Have you used cheap eBay 70cc topends for a minerelli engine? Do they do the job or are they not worth getting. I usually use pollini or malossi but I got a 1992 jog that’s was beat up I fixed it up and wanting to make it powerful enough to willie you that a cheap Chinese kit and pipe and upgrade cvt will do the job?
@49ccscoot4 жыл бұрын
I think you're better off to get something better than the really cheap bottom grade stuff. Some of it is really poor quality. I've used many Taiwan made kits like Motoritech, HOCA, SSP-G and so on with good results. Of course price check stuff like the Polini Sport vs those and decide from there.

Hi! Can someone give me advise? My Piaggio NRG near by 80cc (becouse i use 49mm piston) have small rear pulley 128mm original is 134mm and i'm wondering whats is benefit, with small pulley there is more acceleration from 0 and less top speed? If i put original 134mm rear pulley what will be the difference? Tnx !
@49ccscoot7 ай бұрын
The 134mm should give you better acceleration because it makes a lower "first gear" or starting ratio when paired with a suitable belt. The belt can travel just as far into the center of a larger pulley if all else is equal, so top speed shouldn't change a lot.

@49ccscoot9 жыл бұрын
+tjay ismael I don't think it makes a big difference with an engine that can make more power at lower revs, but it helps some and it's a much more reliable transmission than stock or with the Hoca from my experience with them.

Hi! what rpm is good for clutch to grap with zx pipe?
@49ccscoot7 жыл бұрын
I don't really really tune to any certain RPM. If I want to dial in a clutch I usually go by feel and maybe timed acceleration. If it's a stock clutch, the best is likely to be as high as you can get it to rev without the CVT beginning to shift first so you lose the low ratio for takeoff. Peak power will likely bee 9000-9500RPM with a ZX, but unless you can make RPM stay right there till max speed you'll want it to engage somewhere below that.

@@eddietrujillo172 I'm not even sure what that has stock. For me, I'd go with sliders because they outlast rollers and sometimes outperform them. As far as weight, likely what it has is close. You can always open it up and weigh what you have and then figure out if you think it needs more or less RPM. Aluminum foil can add weight if they are too light and weights can be bored.
