I have to try these ideas, especially the ones where you add drops of coffee or ink onto the wet papers. I can’t tell you how many things I could “see” in the patterns the drops made! It really sparked my interest in dyeing paper again, thank you for sharing, Barbara!

Thank you for another inspiring video Barbara. Hopefully the weather will get nicer soon so I can do some paper dyeing outside on my patio. I saw another fun technique for getting funky pattern on paper - add a drop of ink on paper and blow on it through a straw. If you manage to blow right in the center, you get a neat starburst effect. If blow at an angle, you get a web-like squiggly pattern. Stay safe !

Love it! I also put some coffee in a spray bottle and misted the paper after the first dry and it turned out neat. I also put some liquid water color in a spray bottle diluted with a small amount of water and misted the paper after the first dry with color. I bought blue, yellow and a red. Next I have some dried out markers from kids and I am making alcohol sprays and try it after the first dry but on tea dyed paper. It is fun. Also I see you used newspaper. I put a plastic table cloth down and then a old sheet and lay the wet paper on the sheet you also get some designs from the cloth under neath.

If you dye the paper using a large sheet of drawing paper underneath (instead of newspaper) then this drop sheet gets all the drippings from the coffee and after some sessions, it's usable as coffee dyed paper. And it has lots of different moods. AND I just did a second layer on some already dyed paper using your notes and it's great. My big problem is how to dye digitals after they are in the book. I just wipe or spray on them and the bleeding of inks is ok with me as sometimes the digitals are too romantic... you know. J

But only the bottom had pretty markings on it. So I took my ink pads & rubbed over the others where they were crumpled, and it made them stand out better. I'm going to have to get some of that ink!! Awesome video, as always, hun! My favorite mathod is, by far, the paper balls - I've never seen that one before, and the result is so B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!! FYI, I jusy coffee dyed nearly 100 papers the other day, b-u-t now I feel the urge to try the wrinkled paper method... 🤨 #ADayInTheLifeOfAPaperJunkie... Lmao By the way, if I'm not mistaken, this mesh-y tape that you used is often called #DoubleSidedCarpetTape (I love using it for binding and mending old books - it's quite durable). Secondly, you can make your own #AlcoholInk pretty easily - I mix RUBBING ALCOHOL (92% or at least 70%) with: dark coffee, food coloring, water colors, (old) makeup, or actual ink 😊 (you can buy cheap bottles on AliExpress) In addition to that, the options are E-N-D-L-E-S-S!!! When my solution is ready, I pour it into a spray bottle and... Voilà The coffee "ink" is my favorite, and if you spray your papers after you've dyed them, you can create "natural" staining, that brown-ish patina that we're all so fond of. *** Note= I'm pretty sure you won't be able to put your hands on any percentage of that rubbing alcohol... 🤣 people are bathing in it now 😵 #TheWorldGoneMad Anyhow, thank you for uploading amazing content and helping us the little sanity that's left... 😉 hahaha!!! VIRTUAL Hugs & kisses, (and lots of love from Israel) Liat

Thank you once again dear Liat! #youalwaysmakemelaugh! 😂 your alcohol mixtures sound great, but as you said currently not available 😊. Do you use it to dye clear tape as well? Stay safe sweetie! ❤️❤️❤️
@beautybug1831

@@49dragonflies Hey, again, sweetpie 😊 Yes! Any alcohol ink (of course the store-bought ones) but even the homemade are able to dye clear tape, however I always make sure to buy the 92% alcohol. I think the 70% was less effective. Another thing is that if your going to work on a silicone mat, take into account that you have to use your dyed tape immediately! I think the high alcohol percentage makes the tape melt on(to) the surface. I probably should try working on release paper (sticker sheets) so I could make a stock of premade dyed tape (but these days our sources are so limited... #ItsLikeASCIFISeries only it's our R-E-A-L life... 🤨 (!!!) And on a much happier note 😎 Hope that #EveryDayYouWillFindAReasonToLaugh 😘 I hope I answered your question. XX, Liat

Thank you so much for doing this video, there was so much information that I had not seen before. Is there anything special that needs to be done to iron the paper?

Connie Carson I use a very hot iron with steam. My papers turn out great!

Thank you Connie! I use no steam and iron right over the paper with a pretty hot iron. Just try what works best for you 😊
