Im in the same boat born in 82 and saw the tail end of Montana time with niners and Steve young got the same kind of hate from the joe Montana fans until Steve won them over with his play. This kid has something different from all qb after Steve young he poised doesn’t get rattled if the play isn’t there he makes something happens that all we can ask for.

I was born in 1953 and I've been watching the 49ers since I was six years old and John Brodie was the quarterback and Joe Perry and JD Smith were the running backs. I didn't even get to start watching them in color until I was12 years old. I got married two years after Brodie's last year as QB and four years before Montana's first.

The defenders they got close to Purdy. He's a shifty runner and stays elusive until enough defenders surrounded him. He has a good feel for the seams and then he dives as a QB should be doing.

It’s the little things you just love about the kid, like how naturally he switches the ball to his outside hand, and how skillful he is at getting down without taking a hit or landing awkwardly.

Water Dragon is actually a very apt comparison. Water Dragons are not very fast, but initially they are very quick - darting out of reach. Purdy's 10-yard split is extremely fast, but he can be chased down from behind.
