Easily the best channel I've ever found on KZbin. Perfect explanations with sufficient complexity to explain things to those of us who are fairly certain something went wrong and wasn't just "x player bad", but can't quite explain how. Like that tipped pass to Aiyuk. Announcers blamed Purdy, Twitter users blamed the weather, but no one thought to check the film and see that McKivitz got pushed around like a little boy. It'll be very interesting to see if you do some sort of evaluation after the season is over. I think a lot of people would like to get a grip on the Bosa situation beyond "not many sacks, Bosa bad".

On CMC's 39 yd TD, you can hear Purdy telling Kittle, "Stay there," instead of going in motion. It was either he saw the play clock was low, or he wanted him to stay playside because of his pre-snap read. Either way, that's high-level QBing, Brady, or Rodgers type stuff.

Purdy's done that quite a lot over the course of the season. On the very first snap to Seattle in Week 14, he canned the 1st play called in the huddle and the play they went with was a 72 yard run for Cmc

According to Ted Nguyen of The Athletic: "Juice told me, there was supposed to be a TE motion. Purdy knew it wasn't necessary for the play to work (guessing it was a return motion). You can see Juice telling TE to move and Purdy tells him to stay there. He got set again right in time."

I already felt good about this week because it was weather + rust that was the main problem, and we don’t have to worry about either of those this week. And to that end, we now have a full head of steam, coming off Purdy’s FIRST 4QCB. I really appreciate this breakdown because you’re right, Purdy wasn’t as bad as the anxiety of the moment made it seem. You didn’t even show the Ray Ray MA that might have actually sparked this team by causing Purdy to yell at everyone! I hope he does that more!

Exactly. What if our guys don't slip, what if Purdy gets a second longer - we had a bubble screen to CMC that was about 2 steps away from being a house call instead of 6 yards, what if DeMo doesn't drop a pick - could've been 42-10

Thought experiment. Purdy rushed for 144 yds this year. If Allen, Jackson, & Mahomes only had 144 yds each, their team mates would have added the balance of those yards to their totals. Consequently, their team mates don't receive accolades. Purdy made sure his team mates got the maximum opportunities and thus many are in the pro bowl. I submit that Purdy's unselfish play has made his team mates better and not the other way around! While Purdy is being disrespected for helping his team mates get to the pro bowl, the other three are praised by the media while their team mates opportunities are lessened! Brock Purdy is the hero AND the MVP for this year!

Ambry's first PI probably saved a TD. I think he was beat even if he had maintained he outside leverage. He's the biggest liability on D. When Kinlaw tripped himself, I initially thought he was having a seizure with the way he went down. 25:15: it's obviously the system, right? no way it could be the guy throwing the ball I'm fine with the missing Aiyuk open for the TD at the end. Still got a good gain on the scramble and kept the clock running.

Thanks for the great breakdown. Hopefully the team reviewing their mistakes, plus dry conditions next week, will address most of the issues. What are your thoughts on the O-line's performance overall? It seemed like Purdy was constantly being pressured, and CMC had almost no room to run except for a few big plays. Side note: I understand the importance of members' support and such, but could you please at least not put the plug *in the middle* of a play breakdown? That was even more annoying than those 30-second insert ads that the TV broadcasts have started doing. At least they shove them in *between* the plays.

Great vid Jonny. @ 15:27 of this breakdown I disagree with the over route being Greenlaw's responsibility. He has Jones in front as the checkdown and I can't expect him to gain depth to take away the crosser and also rally up to Jones if Love checks the ball down. Rather, I feel that Ryan needs to peel off his coverage (see through the guy he's guarding) and pick up the crosser with leverage. Even if the call is cover 3 mable, I just don't see the need to run with the seam route all the way when you can pass it off to the MOF safety. In any case, I'm hoping that Brown can fill in as the starting S this week; with the Lion's weapons at WR, it's all hands on deck.
@jonnydel
@jonnydel 9 ай бұрын
In Mable, the WILL is responsible for picking up the #3 on any crossing route. The checkdown, that's the responsibility of Warner. It's a tough task. But, that's how it's matched in Saban's playbooks(where Mable originates) and Quinn's playbooks - the foundation of this system

Even going through the film I don't really know who would you call the #3 Wr here? Honestly, I guess I'm just curious about the assignments in this situation because from what I recall, Cover 3 Mable is usually in response to 3x1 formations, but here the Packers line up 2x2 (with the TE tight to the formation)

The TD to Kittle is going to draw some of the "schemed" comments that dog the team. By the definition they're using, every play is schemed. What happened in that play was GB blitzed, and Purdy responded the way the best do, rolling out and finding an open guy. It's what Russell Wilson did to us for years with endless success.

Any idea why Ryan was chosen over Brown at safety? I feel on the big honking DPI there should have been some safety deeper than the route went, it's hard to blame Thomas on it though, he turned his head for an under thrown pass that was slightly behind but the receiver just slowed enough for him to run over him at that moment.

Niners could've easily won this by 3 scores if some of Purdy's passes connected and things like Thomas's PI or the long kick off return didn't happen. In the end I have high hopes the niners use this as a galvanizing force to win against Detroit and head to the Superbowl.

They need to do a better job in the future of forcing players to wear longer cleats in inclement weather. The number of slips on both sides of the ball were criminal.

Go watch the highlights of the game and listen to the announcers go completely silent for 9 SECONDS immediately after Brock's TD to Kittle all they say is " To Kittle, he's got it, Touchdown San Francisco."............ NOT EVEN A 'NICE PASS' BY THE ANNOUNCERS!'. Its insane how differently the media covers Brock than the rest of NFL QB's. Even the guys calling the game prefer to go silent for nearly 10 seconds after the best play of the game because it was made by Brock Purdy. Lol

"There's slippage on the field again". Where the f*** was the 49ers equipment manager? Rain was in the forecast for a week, it rained for 3 days including game day, and the equipment dude couldn't deal with all that AT HOME? Was he out for burritos during the game?

Was it Keyshawn who was trying to discredit Purdy's TD, "short and Kittle was open". Love threw one TD to a guy after the DB fell down and the other was for a yard. It's crazy the praise Love got vs the hate Purdy is getting. And Love is older! Not like this is Stroud.

The narrative is to bash Purdy and to crown Love. The stats show that Purdy had better numbers in the game. The stats show Love choked in the 4th and final drive. Purdy shined in the final minutes and did what was needed of him . The Narrative is made of haters who have been wrong all season about Purdy. They are waiting patiently for him to fail.

At 10:00 so you go back to ground and pound like we've done so many times before and get your chunk plays back. Why keep passing just to punt. Kyle also has this reputation as well. Even Terry Bradshaw called him out on it before the 2019 Superbowl and as a result we lost. PS4 might just be a kids game and we laugh snark at it. Yet I've gone back to ground and pound run plays when my passing game got locked up by D and won plenty of them. Look at McCaffreys game winning touchdown was that a thrown ball?

Deebo going down early hurts the game plan quite obviously...I'd say he didn't adjust to the absence of Samuel as good as he could...I'd like to see more Mitchell on the field with CMC if Deebo is out...CMC can do a lot of what Deebo does and Mitchell is an explosive RB in his own right.

I pray we stop this 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage motion. It’s stupid and the helps the defenders zone the area
@jonnydel
@jonnydel 9 ай бұрын
It's about timing for some routes. I know JT hates it, from a QB perspective. Kyle is using it as a way to get a guy, who defenses have to account for in the screen game, in a screen position and you will always see defenses shifting to account for that. Just because he's not as viable as an option, doesn't mean it doesn't help the offense
@RiCKTEEZ
@RiCKTEEZ 9 ай бұрын
@@jonnydel I understand what you are saying, but It doesn’t threaten anything downfield. The defender always zones that short area and that offensive player is essentially dead and the defender can also help anyone else in that area, leaving others free. It would be amazing if you could break down that motion and the pros and cons!
@jonnydel
@jonnydel 9 ай бұрын
@RiCKTEEZ I've done it on my pod 🤷‍♂️ Just because a route doesn't go vertical doesn't mean it doesn't affect the defense. We've had plays where Deebo is split side and his route is to turn and face Purdy from where he started. There's a lot of minutia in it. How does it love the Apex? What pre-snap does it give on the MIKE? He's playing at a screen depth, ore-snap so you get a defined look on a screen presentation, pre-snap instead if asking your QB to do it post-snap, making a read more efficient. There's a lot of reasons to do it.
