Growing up I was envious of the 70's and their lifestyle and music. Now I look back at working at a CD store with piercings all over and that super don't care tonality to my voice. I saw Tanya with Catherine Wheel as a special appearance, the Breeders I walked on to their tour bus, Frank Black I saw in tiny bars and had a special under 21 pass...It was a pretty cool time.

Why are there barely any closeups of her in this video? Very strange.
@benduffy62198 жыл бұрын
Sadly, I'm pretty sure the reason is that she was already in her mid-to-late 30s at this point, isn't conventionally pretty in the same way as Tanya Donelly, and their record company and management were angling for "sex sells," or at least "cute sells." If she had been 26 and elfin-gorgeous, I imagine Belly would have been packaged more like Veruca Salt.
@joeellis44758 жыл бұрын
Ben Duffy I think she looked pretty damn good whatever her age was. my point is the gorman brothers get numerous closeups but gail does not even get one!

On your third broken window Your hair full of glass Throw your clothes in the hallway again Just a sheet on your back So you're super-connected now All the freaks gather 'round And the crowd in your bedroom waits For a piece of your personal space Are there heartstrings connected To the wings you've got slapped on your back? Better climb in the window 'Cause I'm closing the door On your third broken window Hair full of glass Saw your clothes in the hallway Just a curtain on your back (I laugh) Are there heartstrings connected To the wings you've got slapped on your back? Better climb in a window 'Cause I'm closing the door Now I'm spinning on a dime Like you claim to do Like right now Like now Are there heartstrings connected To the poison coming out of your mouth Are you super-connected Are you super-connected now I'm spinning on a dime Throw your clothes in the hallway Now I'm closing the door Compositores: Gail Greenwood / Tanya Donelly

Ah, the 90s... When not-particularly-huge-selling bands on 4AD could get packed off to expensive studios in the Bahamas to record their second LP with big-name producers, and their singles promoted with high concept promo videos costing more than a small apartment. Those days are gone, never to return. I love this record, btw. Bought it on vinyl in Feb 95 and listened to it again the other day for the first time in ages. Still get wrong-footed by the drums on Puberty and Seal my Fate, annoyingly.
