Hello again friend! I plugged this video in every MR2 owners group I'm a member of since I know people have been looking for it and then you don't have to worry about plugging yourself. :) This is a pretty awesome bit of kit! Really love that you are doing this for the MR2 folks. As a future upgrade, you could consider machining a basic spacer to replace the lower square washer and washer combo, and then a few different lengths to remove some of the washers if people know their probable setup. They could always revert to washers if they need. Just a thought! Keep up the great work.

You know I love you right? Thanks for saving me the time. Your proposal is sound my man. I can make some smaller spacers easily and including them in the package, will definitely look prettier than washers :) Just need to figure out the sizes.

Not here to bash, just curious, how much testing have you done with this bracket? I ask because I specifically swapped from the similarly designed MRP bracket to your previous version sensor bracket due to vibration issues with the MRP setup causing signal loss at specific RPM's (presumably due to engine harmonics at those speeds). The vibration was so bad it would wear a groove in the sensor and the car would ignition cut, even if I had it set to the maximum gap and everything torqued in place to max recommended spec. Since swapping to the much beefier V1 D4A bracket it has been flawless.
@fr1tz1655 жыл бұрын
I've heard similar things about the mrp setup, but considering that this is a 100$ less then the mrp made version it probably would not cost you much to throw it on and test for the same issues.
@d4a5 жыл бұрын
This is a very good question and something I have been thinking a lot about before releasing this. I have tested it on my engine at various rpm and have about an hour of footage of the gap with the engine running that I watched in slow motion to see whether there is any movement at all. There was none. I made the bracket and spacers extra thick and if you try to shake the bracket by hand it's possible to make it move a bit only with excessive and unreasonable force and using some sort of leverage. Of course that is the case on my engine. There are of course thousands of engines out there, in different condition and with different sensor and trigger wheel setups and that will be the real test. As long as it's installed and used right I am confident this bracket should work well. But if the feedback from users is negative I will refund and redesign. If it's still no good I will pull it back from the market of course. The v1 bracket will also get a minor redesign and will be sold again as soon as I find the time.

I have a stock 4age 20v silvertop. Does it have a crankshaft position sensor and if so, where is it located? My vehicle has intermittent dropping of revs by itself and I suspect this is the issue
@michaelhawkey85094 жыл бұрын
Ever considered attempting to make a similar item for a cam angle sensor?
@OmgATessybear5 жыл бұрын
Quick question about this: Since the sensor is on the outside would the elements have any effect on the sensor? (ie: water, mud, salt, etc.) New to the car building scene and I'd like to convert my 4age for Coil On Pack using crank trigger sensor so this seems like the best route when youre trying to make the bay look clean
@d4a5 жыл бұрын
The sensor isn't affected by the elements. It's basically a plastic cylinder with a magnet inside it. Water, salt, ice etc can't affect its ability to read trigger wheel teeth and send a signal to the ECU. So unless you drive through a field of ferrous metal shavings you will be ok :)
@Electronica272 жыл бұрын

Did you have to use the T3 adapter to install the trigger wheel? I didn’t order one, so I’m wondering if you used it. It seems like I can still bolt it to the front without the adapter.
@d4a4 жыл бұрын
I didn't, made little spacers myself. You can't bolt it on without some sort of adapters or spacer, it will fall off after a while.

whys nobody make these? T3 makes the trigger wheel and crank pulley. only MRP seems to have the sensor bracket but its wayyyyyy too expensive for what it is
@lockjawjak5 жыл бұрын
I know a guy who had this style of trigger wheel sensor mount and had problems with vibrations causing the sensor to contact the wheel. Is there a chance you can still keep making the old style for those that do not ever want to run A/C? The old design does not suffer from the vibration issues that this one might (friend had to add a diagonal leg glued to the sump to stop the vibration issues)
@d4a5 жыл бұрын
Old style is still available. Check out the shop section of my site driving4answers.com. That being said I have sold a few dozen of these and no one has had any vibration issues yet. I made this thing super thick and beefy to be sure there will be no vibration issues whatsoever.
@lockjawjak5 жыл бұрын
@@d4a oh awesome I only ever looked on ebay as your shop site never seemed to work for me. The guy who had the issue was running it on a 480whp 4agte track car so probably had a lot of vibrations and he was using a kit they have since changed to avoid this. Because the mounting bolts are all in a line with the sensor hanging out so far it definitely needs to be bolted down hard. Glad to hear your v2 isn't suffering the same issues :)

Make the square washer thicker.
@d4a5 жыл бұрын
I will likely make a little update on the next batch of brackets and one of the square washers will be one piece together with a spacer which will eliminate any chance of bending. I made it this thickness because two standard round washers fit perfectly between the two square ones and that prevents bending. It's all in the instructions, but a one piece square washer will still be nicer and prettier.
