Do you have any recommendations on how to approach our engine in maintenance or rebuilds if we have a 4age head and a 4 c block? I found a original SR5 coupe with this build and a spare motor which is a 7afe and I want to make sure I maintenance it correctly, and also find out what is the best motor for overall use. Thank you for posting the assembly segment, I'm a very kinesthetic/visual learner so this helped a boat load!
@d4a7 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Darwin In terms of maintenance there's honestly nothing special. Change oil ever couple of thousand miles, or twice a year to be extra safe. I use 10w-40 from reputable brands and OEM oil filters. One of those magnetic sump plugs isn't a bad idea either. Why not make a 7age with all of that? Amazing engines on the street lots of torque, pull like crazy.
@impulse_media7 жыл бұрын
driving 4 answers you know what lol I think I will do that 😌😊 Ill have the whole 7afe motor come Wednesday so shoot why not, I'll need to find out if the AE86 I'm picking up has a blue or red top 4age.

I know I’m here just a few years late, but out of curiosity. I’m looking to modify my car (2010 Jetta Sportwagen with 2.5L Inline 5/07K). It has almost 150,000 miles on it would you say I should rebuild or replace before I get into modifying because of the age? Anything knowledge you’re willing to impart is welcome! Thank you for the wonderful content

+driving 4 answers (mr2 mk1 hero) Just asking (I'm a noob) tho can it go higher than that? Thought 4AGE should be good for at least 8500rpm? Or it because of some modifications or tuning that makes it make more power at lower revs but risky to rev that high?
@d4a8 жыл бұрын
+Frank M The stock ecu won't let you go beyond 7.6k. But once you either modify the stock ecu or get an aftermarket ecu people claim to have reved dead stock 4ages to 8000-8500 without any problems. With the right mods and enough money the 4age can rev to as high as 10k. Having balanced my entire rotating assembly I could easily rev to 8.5 without major risks, but that takes something like megasquirt and I am happy with 7.6k for now :)

@d4a6 жыл бұрын
There's plenty of resources. Your local Toyota dealership will have all of the gaskets, bolts and many other parts. You just have to give them the part numbers, which you can find on toyodiy.com. The rest you can find online or in random autoparts stores that stock japanese car brand parts. Ebay is also useful. You can also check out sites like techno toy tuning and prime mr2 which stock a lot of great 4age stuff. Also check out matrix garage.

@d4a7 жыл бұрын
EuroBeat Thanks man. I got a lot from a Toyota dealership. I know a great guy who works there and he helped me out a lot. The cams are from catcams, the HKS valve springs from an amazing guy from forums, the rest is a combination of online stores, eBay, etc. I paid a small fortune in customs duties since I'm in Europe where there is very little to be found for these cars.
