Beautiful story for a beautiful woman! Black women can grow long hair. I am American and dark skinned. I had very long hair as a kid and I am in the process of growing it out again (longest is mid back length). Other black people act like I am an alien because I am a dark skinned woman with long hair or ask me if I am mixed with something. 😤 if more of us learnt how to treat our hair properly this wouldn't be such an issue. New subscriber!

Exactly!!! skin color has nothing to do with hair length LOL😁 lots of folks are ignorant...our hair became unhealthy because we were following Caucasian hair standards not what was best for our hair with its unique texture...school 'em girl!!!👍

I can't even explain how inspiring this video is. So, I have a very similar texture and I'm natural, but kept it under weaves, because I have always felt this immense pressure to have a different texture. People always assume that I'm mixed so I felt like I was supposed to have "mixed hair", which was super exhausting to strive for. It was very hard for me to appreciate the texture that I have, but this video proved to me that my texture is as beautiful as any other.

Just came across this video. It's awesome!Beautiful story, hair journey, and women! :) It's crazy because I've been natural for 7 + years and I've just started wearing my natural hair daily. SMH Well I've worn in out for small stretches of time. And I've used ALL kind of excuses why I was "protecting" my hair. But in all of this time, I can honestly say that I wasn't "completely" comfortable with just wearing "my hair". I'm quite sure that if I had dealt with my own hair and left all of those "other" hair styles out of my hair. I would have reached my desired length by now. I've had set backs because of the damaging things I was doing to my hair as well. However, thank God that I have FINALLY come to terms with "loving the real me" for who I am. Period. And I feel so much better for it. Thanks for this inspiring video!:)

Wow, you are such a beautiful woman and your hair is gorgeous! I love seeing naturals with 4C hair on youtube. I've had people come up to me and say they wish that they had my looser textured hair and it makes me sad because I think that their hair is just a pretty as mine is. I have young cousins with kinky 4c natural hair and I tell them that their is beautiful any chance I can get because I know that they don't hear it often enough from their parents.

You are so gorgeous! I've been having some set backs and struggles with my natural 4C 4B hair. I had to recently do another big chop because of the texturizer I put in my hair 2 years ago and though I feel it looks cute I have been depressed about my hair. Most of my hair is 4C except the back and I've been looking around for women with hair like mines. I was lucky to find you and another 4C sista named Dephene who is also from Africa. Both of you are so humble and easy to watch and learn from while I'm on my journey. I was starting to feel discouraged because I was seeing so many 4A 4B type naturals who hair just didn't look like mines. Glad I found your channel, subscribed. :-)

I know how you feel. I am 4c too. And it was so frustrating going on KZbin and only finding girls with 2c-4a. Although 4a is considered kinky, it still differs than 4c . I got so frustrated because when I look for tutorials for natural hair, the styles were cute but their hair hangs and curls are so defined while mine looks like a cotton ball. Dont lose hope. I also watch Daphne videos which helps me a lot. Dont give up. Us 4cs got to stick together. 🙌

my sister, your hair journey warms my heart. I see myself in you. same hair texture and same tooth gap. I have never been to our Motherland. although I would be classified as African American based on being from the USA, I look 100% Nigerian. when I look in the mirror at my own face I see the lineage of my ancestors gazing back through my African features. you are so stunningly beautiful that I feel beautiful watching your videos. it is so wonderful that you know your African heritage and your indigenous language and culture. I ache for this knowledge about myself, to reach beyond the ravages of the mid Atlantic slave trade and know precisely where my roots are from but it makes me smile to know that I carry my lineage within my DNA no matter what.

Thank you thank you for documenting this so beautifully. Sometimes I watch KZbin videos and grow discouraged because the growth looks unattainable, or I misjudge or misunderstand how long hair takes to grow. I definitely know that I need to work on consistency and not being afraid of trimming (!), but also to know that my hair is my hair, and that it's grown before, and even though since my last chop in January everything feels so slow, it's probably because I'm watching so many KZbin videos 😂 So thank you for the timeline, and for sharing your story!
