I wish my mom tool care of my hair like this when I was younger. She always do one of the three things: 1. braided my hair too tight 2. permed my hair 3. put loads of oil in it and hot combed it. ugggh.

+rugdg13 Yep. A few weeks ago, I learned that black people grease up their hair because way back during slavery, blacks would grease their scalp to protect their scalps from infections and bug bites. They also wore do rags to proven bugs from climbing up their hair when they sleep at night. None of those practices where done for beauty.

How did you wash their hair when thwy were younger and which oil do you use to seal the moisture?

When Lil Sis was younger, I used Extra virgin Olive oil to seal in the moisture. I washed hair with diluted shampoo, once a week, when she was a baby. However, as she grew, I co-washed more frequently, and shampoo only when I see product build up. The girls' hair regimen is on our blog Discoveringnatural
