I saw his concert in Barcelona. I've been to a lot of great concerts over the years, and I've seen Roger Waters three times, but when I heard the opening "ping" I started crying like hell. My girlfriend spent over 20 minutes comforting me. I was so fucking happy, it was THE most important musical experience I have ever had, and one of my all time experiences.

I missed Nick back in 2019 and swore I wouldn't miss him again. A show was announced for Halloween last year and he was playing up in Seattle, 3 hours away. Nobody wanted to go but I decided I would just go by myself. Show was great and seeing Echoes live was amazing. I spent the whole 3 hour drive saying every few miles "I just saw Echoes performed live." Got home, cracked open a beer and watched a video someone had posted of an performance a few weeks before the Seattle show.

This is the way. Somehow wasn't quite excited enough on their first tour for reasons I cannot comprehend any more - got tickets in 2020, then Covid happened, but the show didn't get cancelled, just pushed out to 2022. With the added bonus of featuring Echoes (which they didn't play on their first tour). I've seen Floyd 94, Roger and Aussie Floyd a few times, but this was absolutely the one Floyd-related show that gave me the most joy and that still has me raving about it. It was just such a joyous experience throughout, and the fact they just enjoy playing - and quite freely at times - these songs comes across sooo well. It sort of really felt like live Floyd experiences coming full circle for me, it was the missing piece somehow where the music itself took center stage again, and the visuals just augmented it discretely. So yeah.. over one year on and I'm still excited (and incidentally wearing the shirt from the show today).
@anfromme Жыл бұрын
@@psychedeliccarrie5921They indeed did not play Echoes on their first tour. In Europe, the 2022 tour was actually called the Echoes tour - they seem to have changed that, too, because when I bought the tickets, it was originally called "More games for May". But by the time Covid had passed and the shows actually happened, it had become the Echoes tour.

IIt was while participating in The V & A Museum's Pink Floyd exhibition in 2019 that Mason started to feel the need to play again the drums live. It was Lee Harris and Guy Pratt that approached Nick with the idea of forming this band. Guy Pratt has been touring for a long time with David Gilmour. The band didn't want to copy the music like those tribute bands. It was the opportunity to improvise and rework the songs. But what's the big difference if you haven't noticed yet it's the choice to cover the old songs before Dark Side of the Moon which is unusual for tribute bands of Pink Floyd. So with a setlist of old songs from Pink Floyd first period some from Syd Barrett, we can expect a variety of styles from heavy rock, space, psychedelic, and pop. Some long instrumental songs like '' Set the Control for the Heat of the Sun'' provide more satisfaction for a Prog fan. The song ''Interstellar Overdrive'' with is great riff is the highlight of the show, it feels that there's a little momentum lost after this great song, but it picks up again later with more good music. The members of the band seem to enjoy playing especially when they make eye contact with each other with a smile on their faces. The concert is a bit short, but I don't think they could add more great songs from that era. Being a follower mostly from the Meddle period and up to the Wall, I still enjoy listening to some of their old tracks. If the band didn't want to copy the music like others Pink Floyd tribute bands, it is a special tribute album live of Pink Floyd that has the merit to play some songs rarely played in the past years. I can't say anything wrong with the picture quality and sound of this concert. There's some special effect in the editing of the show but not too much. As for the voice of Spandau Ballet singer Gary Kemp and longtime bass player Guy Pratt, they were not trying to imitate Syd or David, but at times the voice of Gary had some similarity with David. You can watch the concert with interviews or without. In conclusion, this a refreshing take of some old songs... that will bring nostalgia for some who have loved the first period of one of the most influential bands of rock music, and some fun to young fans who want to discover the bands that their father always raved on about... In the playlist is some live concert footage thanks to 4ctmam also and well the full vinyl courtesy by Stylis Drop and some of Uncle Nicks interviews. Psyk Out Freaks Jim

there’s a reason that Neil Peart listed him as one of his influences. Nick Mason is a drum god
@polishrocker932 жыл бұрын
Neil Peart never mentioned Nick Mason. Tell me what year and source that he said that. Neil liked Keith Moon, Gene Krupa, Phil Collins, Stewart Copeland, Ginger Baker, Steve Gadd, John Bonham. Neil loved proper, technical drummers. Nick is only known for his “feel” not his technical ability like Neil loved. So don’t insult the master, by comparing him to an average drummer like Nick. I dare you to find 3 big drummers who actually list Nick as an influence, because none of the drummers I listed above mentioned him. So I’m not sure why you’re making up such comments for likes.
