I agree with this comment, except that this game is an accurate 4D representation. We can't know for sure how slices work nor can we move in 4 dimensions simultaneously, but I think the most accurate we can get to it is imagining that a 3D world is a book and the 4D world is a library. Switching the book you read is equivalent to going through the 4th dimension and switching the worls you're in without any interpolation. Life seems impossible in a world like this because you can switch to a world where your 3D position is equivalent to something that will kill you.

Suggestion: add a sun and make it travel in the sky along the 4th axis. That way it will cast shadows in our slice of the world, and the later in the day, the longer the shadow, so the farther we'll be able to "see" into the 4th dimension.
@Marconel1002 жыл бұрын
Good idea
@SokarenT4S2 жыл бұрын
the current sun actually does go into the 4th dimension for a bit near 'noon' and so does the moon at 'midnight' just that casting shadows wont probably be a setting till another few engine re-writes and an ocean load of optimazations later as the game still crashes when traveling along the w axis and you reach a chunk border. add the fact that proper shadow casting would somehow have to be given to the gpu as a volume intead of the normal 2d projections every other game uses or just a hacky way in general.

Would love to see some more complex 4d beings inhabiting the world than spiders. They are cool due to the scary concept that they are larger than they seem and have 32 legs, most of which are hidden. But i feel that by sticking to the conventions of Minecraft and it's mob style, the potential of the game becomes limited. I would like to see intimidating completely original entities such as the one that picked up the person in the introduction video, or enormous creatures with unconventional layouts that move in bizarre ways and utilize 4 dimensional space to seemingly teleport around.

Interesting bug I ran into that is probably worth investigating as it gave me a headache for a solid half of an hour: When using scroll wheel on my mouse to shift through the 4th dimension, I thought it would be cool to unlock the scroll wheel (I have a g502 so it’s on a bearing) and see what would happen if I spinner it quickly. The game visually acted exactly how I expected, but audibly, it was awful. When I did this it produced and extremely loud, high pitched noise that could be heard even on low volumes . I think this probably has something to do with the computer not calculating fast enough and generating some noise from floating point errors, but it’s an annoying bug none the less. Sorry if this sounds poorly written. TL;DR: when shifting in 4th dimension it makes a really loud noise because computer decided to yell in my ear

@xGOKOPx2 жыл бұрын
Is it audible if you disable audio completely? If not then it's indeed a bug in the game. If yes then it's a hardware thing. Audio system in the computer relies on ground/mass having 0 current (or something like that), but rapid changes of current drawn by eg. the CPU when performing calculations affect it - thus the audio system produces noises. Although you said that it's extremely loud whereas what I'm thinking about is very quiet, so it's probably not that
@delphicdescant2 жыл бұрын
Possibly coil whine from your GPU. Coil whine would be audible without any speakers or headphones, though, because it's actually the hardware making noise, and not something in the audio system at all.

Maybe noise generates when you scroll? Yknow. 4d sound might not exist in game and the game just be playing 3d sound each time you scroll.... hence playing several slices per second when you scroll fast

How would a 4D mirror look to a 3D person? Could you use such a mirror to view the hyperdimensional horrors that lie beyond the veil? I was just thinking that if a shadow (and thus light) can pass through from hyperdimensional space, that a mirror should allow one to see the watchers.

This one is based on how 3d mirror look to 2d person

Much like everything else in the world of 4D Miner, as a 3d being you can only see part of the mirror at once, so no.
@Pilbsu2 жыл бұрын
@@ladyalicent705 I'm talking about a mirror rotated 45 degrees into the fourth dimension in real life. I realise you'd only see an infantesimally small line of mirror in a 3D viewport, but what if the mirror itself was a 3D or 4D shape, instead of a rectangle? Or, what if you had a series of already infantesimally thin mirrors, each rotated 45 degrees into the fourth dimension, to produce a series of infantesimally small lines that together create a single 2D projection of the fourth dimension? Would you be able to see the forms of the watchers?
