I just realized why this song seems so rarity. The opening reminds me of her posing, but when the beat picks up...it's how she trots. The high mincing steps. But taken quickly and precise.

That chorus is giving me serious Lord of the Rings vibes. It's doubly sad because the show's gone too. That was actually one thing I never thought would happen. It had been around for nearly a decade, I think? ...Hmmm... Two stones for the pegasi under the sky, Two for Earth ponies on farms for stone, One for the unicorn not born to change. One for Twilight on her crystal throne, In the town of Ponyville where sanity dies... Magic to rule them all, Loyalty to bind them, Laughter to bring them all and in the castle bind them... In the land of Equestria, where sanity dies... How did I do?

LYRICS: One would believe in simple means, some would believe it possible, others feel it won't be seen for none believe in miracles. Some give a diamond for a stone, some give a stone for a diamond, some keep all things for their own and some remain in silence. There once lived a girl in a simpler time with night-like hair and skin so white, wherever she went, everyone she'd tell, what appears as mine, 'tis thine as well. So she went through the world giving all she had, never feeling the need to claim it back, everyone she'd need would befall her spell, what appears as mine, 'tis thine as well. Counting the days of a shortening life, living the ways of a nursery rhyme, humming the tune of a ringing bell, what appears as mine, 'tis thine as well. One would believe in simple means, some would believe it possible, others feel it won't be seen for none believe in miracles. Some give a diamond for a stone, some give a stone for a diamond, some keep all things for their own and some remain in silence.

You know, I get what you mean. There's some really good sea shanty type music out there though - including some brony stuff. "Lunar Pirate" is a good example (and also sung by MEMJ, the same as this song). A few days after listening to it I had an awesome dream about being in a pony airship battle. "Dragon Roost Island" from Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker is also similarly themed, and is my favourite piece of music (Chant of Selflesness is 4th - also behind "Song of Storms" and "Baba Yetu"). The Muppets Treasure Island theme "Shiver My Timbers" is also really good.

They do exist but only in our minds and our hearts and that is good enough.

I think the most impactful part of this song for me is "counting the days of a shortening life" it brings a bit of sad remembrance to it, like the person singing this knew her and greatly respected her, but she died maybe a bit too soon or something. there is also the fact that this is literally about her generosity and her giving people her all even though there seems to be an underlying tone of 'everyone knows her days are numbered, and yet she is still going strong'. i really just like the word choices in this.
@nathangamble12515 күн бұрын
I don't get the impression from this song that Rarity is dead. I think the female voice in this song is supposed to be Rarity, singing about herself in the third-person, but she's getting older and acknowledging it, hoping that somepony else will follow in her hoofsteps and carry forward the values that she lived by. Once Rarity is dead, we have the sad remembrance, in _Chant of Immortality_
