I guess it is better to drive RAV4 AWD in Calagry with snow tires in winter (you forgot to mention the cost of snow tires in winter- quite expensive) but mini cooper in Vancouver, not vice versa my friend 😂

Good update for those wanting to move to Calgary! Greater Toronto Area seems to be much bigger than Vancouver and Calgary!
Sam, I live in the US and I find it odd when I listen to your numbers. I knew very little about Canada's work environment. My good friend (both dentist) who lived in West Vancouver Shaughnessy Heights for the past 30 years complained differently. Their son being an attorney in Vancouver earned $150K and can't afford a $2M house in West Vancouver while his daughter earned $240K as a merger & acquisition attorney for the oil industry in Calgary and her house is only $1.4M.

A lot of old seafood 🦞 think they can make more money in AB. If you live in Vancouver 41 years ago, now you own a house worths more than $2M and tax free. Today you can only collect CPP and move to Nanaimo BC. It is not too late and you know BC is the better place to live. Good luck 🤞

Calgary has some advantages over Vancouver: House prices are almost >40% cheaper ( ie 1 million house in Vancouver can be purchased at a price of save at least $400,000 which should be enough to offset the higher costs of other things ) Calgary should have more sunny days in winter than that of Vancouver although Vancouver is warmer ( Some Canadians get a little bit depression in Vancouver winter due to frequently rainy and cloudy periods ) Everything has trade-off and there is NO such ideal case. Btw, I don’t live in Calgary or Vancouver or Toronto -> I’m living in a Canadian small city.
@stephenn8810 ай бұрын
You are wrong. You don’t save in housing. Vancouver will be always have more premium over Calgary. You cannot compare an international city to a cow town 😂❤🎉

I’m not saying that Calgary is better but I only point out two advantages which are facts in my opinion. For comparison, you have to list all the pros and cons. Different people make their decisions based on the list depending how they define their ideal lifestyles,

@@PeterWong-pb5es I just can’t figure out why some other people especially those from Vancouver hate Calgary so much. If you enjoy where you live then I am happy for you. David : I guess that they have the mentality that their city is the best in Canada. Fortunately, I don’t have such mentality. I only think that the small city , which I’m living, is completely suitable for me only. It’s because other people may have different lifestyle than mine. 🙂
Honestly, I have lived in Vancouver, yes: they do have more food choices, Japanese food, take away, you name it, but I spend at least 2 hours each way to go to work daily, and you cannot park your car in public parking without the risk of glass breaking, I have lived in Montreal, yes: they have tons of varieties, but Montreal people have eyes up the forehead if your French no good, I have lived in Toronto, not fond of a big city to be honest Calgary is a boring place, but this is home, and I am proud to live here for 20years plus keep in mind, now Trudeau is in the command post, did he make Canada a better place, or make it worst,,,,?? only time will tell
@janiceho603410 ай бұрын
Of course bigger cities are always more choices of foods, entertainment , career opportunities and different lifestyle than smaller cities that is depends on whether you can enjoy smaller and boring place to live. I have some friends who like to stay home and do not like to go to the crowds, smaller town and cities are better for them. It is all personal choices .

@@stephenn88reason? Do you know one of the reasons that makes Calgary more affordable in housing market is the ability to spread outward to the edge unlike Vancouver. From 2010 to 2020, built-up area growth was highest in the agglomerated CSAs of Toronto (+29 km2), Calgary (+21 km2) and Montréal (+16 km2). In addition, Edmonton (+12 km2), Winnipeg (+10 km2) and Vancouver (+10 km2) had more than 9 km2 of built-up growth on their outskirts And you also ignore the factor that the lower tax policy under the conservatives government in Alberta just makes certain things cheaper. Please do some research and stop making false assumption.

It takes an annual income of cdn$200 k to afford a million dollar residence. Vancouver is grossly over priced. As those who cannot afford the present mortgage rate will dump their residences, the supply will increase by minimum of 10,000. Since affluent immigrants dwindles, the problem of affordability will overshadow. However, people got used to high price, so price will drop a little slower than the rise! Vancouver needs rich immigrants to sustain. Her property value. 0:12 In the 70s it was the Arabs. 80s Hongkongners. 90s Taiwanese. then the mainlanders from China! In Japan property started to crumble and dropped 30 years. A million dollar house then would cost 200k today. Japanese society grows old. People are reluctant to have kids. It’s universally true. I don’t want to argue. I sold all my properties in HK back in 2021!
