I had the same issue that you did with the stock injectors not sealing properly. I added an extra oring to push out the seals and a small washer to even put the bolt seat. Evo 8 injectors are longer and have these special spacers that sit between the rail and the manifold. I my seals just went out so I think ima grind it down also and get rid of the washers.

Great write up, and much respect for taking the time out to make and share this with the masses. Once you start adding HP with a turbo your next issue is gonna be the gear box. The stock auto or the 3g 5 speed will not hold up and you will be looking at the Evo 8 in fwd configuration for reliability.

Great Video. One question: If I run it with the stock hyundai cams do I still need the evo reluctor? Or am I even able to run it with the stock hyundai cams?
@RvaJay Жыл бұрын
I believe you do. I think it has something to do with how the reluctor is read by the sensor. You could also modify the Hyundai one to match the evo. Not 100% sure though.

The cams and the reluctor itself will fit. The housing needs to be from the Hyundai.

Thanks for the great content. For my project I am currently trying to decide if I should just do the G4JS head swap or a full G4JS engine swap. Curious to know your thoughts on this. The project car is a 1990 Sonata.
@RvaJay4 жыл бұрын
I’m not familiar with the car. What engine is currently in it
@maxwelltannenbaum4 жыл бұрын
@@RvaJay It's a G4CS (Hyundai version of the 4G64). I have decided to use the '92-94 Sonata cylinder head (same as 4G63) on it since that will match the left side facing engine arrangement. I think the the biggest unknown for me looking ahead will be figuring out the ecu/wiring.
@mitsubishikid11873 жыл бұрын
@@maxwelltannenbaum the sohc g4cs will likely need custom pistons to run a dohc head, if I were in your spot i'd buy some forged 4g64 pistons, designed for use with a 4g63 head Wiseco makes some HD ones, but you might need 7 bolt 22mm wrist pin rods that go to 6 bolt crank.
@100degeneracy72 жыл бұрын

So is factory ecu need to be chiped/remapped ? Being rpm range has increased ?

The stock ecu will run fine. The car did “feel” faster after the head install. A tune would def. help get the most out of it.

Seems like a ton of work for the head swap. Probably will just keep the sohc head on my outlander and just boost it lol AWD and boost = FUN
@RvaJay4 жыл бұрын
It’s actually pretty easy. It can be done in a day if you have all the parts. Depending on how much power your aiming for, the sohc head will become a restriction. If you just looking to add a little power. Then it’s definitely more cost effective to just turbo.
@dronepilot260rc4 жыл бұрын
