If you are unsure if you have the new hdmi card installed in your Yamaha RX-V6A check next to your firmware update number( you have to update it to 1.34 or later) on your display if it has a asterix * then you have an updated hdmi card and its good

My man, you are my saviour. I bought the RX-V6A last july and just received my PS5. After reading so many posts I lost faith and assumed I had an expensive receiver which could not send through my PS5 signals correctly. I just updated the firmware and ordered new cables. Based on your findings there shouldn't be any issues. Thanks!

@@fivelevels Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for me. Got my PS5 hooked up with the PS5 HDMI cable to my RX-V6A with firmware version 1.48. Receiver is connected to my Samsung Q67R with a certified 2.1 HDMI cable. I have tried the type 1 and type 3 HDMI settings on the receiver but Warzone is still displaying 1080p 120hz. Am I forgetting something maybe?

@@Rakaus29 Hi, did you try testing another game that supports 4k 120? also did you connect to hdmi port number 3 labeled as "Game" and applied the same settings I have shown on the screen? Did you enable performance mode on the PS5? Also don't forget to enable 4k 120Hz with eARC on the TV

Hello there, I am curious if Yamaha ever followed up on this update, with the update to enable VRR and ALLM? Do you have VRR and ALLM yet enabled on this receiver?

They claimed and advertised supporting these technologies but still no firmware update that actually supports it. However, you can connect the console directly to your TV and then another port to your hdmi eARC in the AVR. That's how you can experience it for now.

@@fivelevels hey, I just got it back just now the receiver. It only works using the 8k mode for the PS5. Using Mode 1 , there is sound but no picture. Tested it with call of duty. Finally happy now. 😁

You should specify that the bandwidth is limited to 24Gbps; not the full 48Gbps. This means the unit contains the [current] bare minimum; quite disappointing.

Just a general question I have a projector and a ps5 that I will be using on it would I connect the hdmi output into the receiver hdmi output and then my ps5 hdmi 2.1 cord into one of the hdmi inputs behind the receiver I’m new to this to play and take advantage of my surround sound ?

The HDMI out on the receiver will be connected to the projector, then all your other devices should be connected to the HDMI ports on the back of the AVR.

Hi there, They don't release new updates very often, and the last firmware update version is 1.63

Is there any specific serial number to check for the receiver with the new board?

All I know is that if you have the one manufactured back in 2020 when the avr was released, then you will need a board replacement. You can email Yamaha with your serial number, perhaps they will reply.

Check your firmware number using the menu connect touch button in front of your receiver. Use the selector scroll wheel till you get to firmware update. If you're firmware number has * in front of the number then you have the new board. Example: Ver. *1.34 Note that you only need the new board if you are planning to use the new x-box or NVIDIA RTX30 device. For the PS5 even the old board works with the new firmware!!!

@@andresco50 Very sad to hear this. It's their flagship series yet they still don't pay much care about them. If you're from the US I would recommend getting a Denon AVR from the X series. They have a better graphical user friendly interface firmware as well as a more accurate calibration mic.

@@geejayrc9401 No, I just made another test recently using the ps5 connected to the avr and it showed me a message saying it's not supported. If you want VRR+ALLM, you can connect your console directly to your TV then connect your avr to the eARC hdmi port on the TV and it will work 100% tested and confirmed.
