Emerald Pikachu i wanna be an scv marimba too! hopefully we both can be one soon and meet. it would be really cool. i hate that i can’t audition for the 2019 year but hopefully the year after i can.

I have years to go until I can audition. I'm currently 13 so that gives me about five years to practice. I already know the opener for the 2018 show on Marimba plus the ballad from 2016 so I'm on my way to becoming an SCV Marimbist.

Thanks man! I'm really trying to get myself a heck of a lot better. If you want to learn the music then: 2016: Musescore (score01) "Santa Clara Vanguard 2016 Full Show (COMPLETE)" 2017: Musescore (TheMTCrew) "[WIP] Santa Clara Vanguard 2017 "Ouroboros" - Read Description! - Updated 3/29!" 2018: The opener for Marimba is on "Sandi Renneck's" facebook page from his post made on July 8th saying, "Click to see Isabell throwing down! So proud of VP18." If you go into the comments then you will get the Marimba part posted by Sandi that gives all the stickings as well.

Nicholas Dillion I can't comment for SCV specifically, but if I had to guess I'd say they're using the AT 2035. That's the industry standard so to speak and a great mic for the application.

@XYLOBELL_
@XYLOBELL_ 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, Dynasty PA-MC110. they are modeled after the Audix-ADX20-IP. Some of them are Audix. Dynasty made some sound equipment for a hot second for vanguard when they came on board after pearl/adams. without getting into details the idea fell through. This is was at least during my time in marching with and then working with Vanguard winter percussion 2012-2016. I got to work with and see all the equipment. It works well, the sound is mostly the rosewood bars and the vibe bars. The Dynasty/Bergerault Marimbas sound great, Not a fan of the frames. The vibes are awesome because of the thicker metal and bar giving less overtones and more fundamental tone. The at2035 works , however, they sound brittle and too much attack with synthetic bars and vibes IMO. Condenser mics in a live setting have a huge issue with feedback. the nice thing about the Audix and Dynasty is the more focused polar pattern (the area it picks up sound) so it will feedback less. Personally I still stick with an SM58 for all HS applications, especially indoor drumline. If I have a marimba lower than a 4/3 (low A) Ill use something like an AT2035 if possible. Any large diaphragm mic will work as long as it can handle the amount of SPL(volume) a marimba will give at its loudest without distorting.

brianna ramirez I was the piano player for SCV 2017. My music was mostly played with a standard piano patch and several other patches layered on top (strings, electronic effects, etc.) I didn’t have any samples; those were executed by mallet players with sample pads. Some of the music was challenging but overall very achievable

After watching 47354737262 times I have but one question: There is some sort of faint bass sounds that are keeping time in sections that would be hard to play together and help the ensemble’s tempo and they sound like they would be dutting but are just bass sounds specifically for the ensemble... What are they/where are they coming from??? (you can hear them in areas like the first few seconds before he starts playing if you listen hard enough)

Hi there, I’ve been playing instruments since the third grade. I know how to read notes and count time. But this school year I’ve been doing percussion. What I’ve noticed is that on the xylophone I can’t read notes in second octave; it confuses me when it comes to reading and I find myself writing in the note names to get it right so I won’t freak out. Are there any tips that can help me with not freaking out as much?
@tylerprimeaux575
@tylerprimeaux575 6 жыл бұрын
Daniah Colomathi - writing in notes to begin can be quite common, but I would advise to step away from that habit. The more music you read the easier it will become to recognize the notes you’re having trouble with. Sight read everyday :)
