@@myerwerl don't. If you have a pre 2013 model you can use it in target display mode for a more powerful desktop and it will be much better than Alogic. If you have a post 2013 iMac there are more elaborate hacks to use it as a display but then there are also Chinese Apple Studio Display clones like Kuycon.

i can't believe ppl still get matte finish that washes away specs , contrast, definition, everything. in paper you have a 4k monitor and in real life it just looks like a regular 1920p. once i could remove the matte coating by soaking paper towels to a samsung monitor an carefully removing it. but it just works in not IPS screens.

Happy I came across this. One main reason I love Apple monitors is because of the glass. I tried getting a Mac mini a year ago and two Dell Ultra Sharp monitors for it. I couldn't do it. There's just no comparison to me. Was considering the Studio Display but you gave me something else to look at. Thanks for the video

It always baffles me why more manufacturers don’t do glossy displays. Yeah, yeah, reflections I know, but honestly the glare I get from most matt displays is a worse trade-off imo. The sharpness of a glass screen is preferable. More curiously, this is what Apple does, and usually everyone else just copies them, so why not this? Just my two-penny’s worth.

Matte displays make reflections worse actually, in literally every scenario. Seriously I have a much better time viewing my built in MacBook display compared to a 4k monitor with a matte finish. Reading the comments, it’s clear us consumers are craving glossy displays and agree matte just sucks.

@@creativegreats Ive noticed that when color grading on a matte vs glossy screen, the colors are a bit muted. So when I adjust saturation levels then watch the video later on my MacBook or iPhone (glossy screens) the colors are a bit more harsh than I’d like them to be. Fantastic review, brief and to the point ~! Just came on the Alogic today, and I must say it looks like a fantastic alternative to the Studio Display. The only thing that kills me is the 60hz refresh rate.. It's hard to be a gamer, mac-user, and on top of that, a very "aesthetic" person who cares about monitor design. Almost an impossible set of criteria to fulfil. Anyway, a bit TMI perhaps

I have bought a 27" model and after using it for a few days was happy to go back to my old Apple Thunderbolt display which the Aloc was supposed to be the upgrade of. Even though my ten-year-old Apple display has lower resolution, the color quality and darkness of blacks is much better. Alogic display has glossy surface but somehow the look of the image doesn't have that "glossy" quality and more of a watercolor feel. When you increase saturation, the picture becomes grotesque. I'm a professional photographer and finish my prints on acrylic. The look of the Apple displays is the closest to what I like my prints to look like.

Hi Brandon - This looks great. Have you ever fed the monitor with 48Hz (ie:for 24fps) video via HDMI or USB-C? Does the monitor refresh adapt (to say coming from a MacBook Pro M2 with 47.97 to 60Hz options) so that video playback is smooth. Or would you need to go for a monitor specifically with Freesync? All the decent monitors seem to specify 60Hz as maximum refresh rate but don't mention lower speeds. Thanks for your insight.

Hello! With the monitor plugged into your Mac, go to display settings on your Mac and uncheck HDR. Catalina and later OS will automatically communicate with HDR capable monitors. I’m using the monitors calibrated color profile 27F34KCPD.

Why does no manufacturer make a 27", 4k, 120hz+ monitor? It's not like 120hz is a "gaming" feature given the technological advancement. If I pay 1000€+ for a monitor I want my eye to enjoy the smoothness of 120hz, not technology that was invented 20 years ago.

I bought this and am returning it within 1 hour of opening. The touch is AWFUL. Not sensitive at all and that’s the MAIN driver. Notes on touch: 1. Not easy to set up - doesn’t work well at all 2. Not intuitive to set up at all. Pain in the ass 3. There’s no sensitivity controls - you have to press pretty hard on the screen with pencil to draw. Fine as a screen, touch is GARBAGE. Absolutely not a good with stylus and notice how nobody is reviewing that part of it. People suggesting this as a good touch screen have no shame or integrity.

Could you describe more in terms of touch and stylus? I had hopes it would be like working on a big iPad screen. I’m unsure if I should buy this, I mainly want to use it for drawing and digital art only.
@Kismet_design
@Kismet_design 10 ай бұрын
@@Rosequartz95it’s absolutely nothing like an iPad. I had to press pretty hard on the screen and the the pressure doesn’t change the size. If you just touched the stylus on the screen, you would not draw anything, then you start pressing… and pressing…. And then finally! The screen begins drawing. The size is just a consistent size because pressure turns it on but size does vary much…. At least it seemed so. I didn’t play with it as I quickly realized it sucks and called support for a return.

Right now nobody can beat Dell's IPS Black technology. It's similar to OLED but much better. The colors of the Dell IPS Black monitor are brilliant and cool white, almost like an OLED Smart TV. If this company can implement the IPS Black technology, then we are talking gorgeous innovation. Also make it a 32 inch size for a future 6K to 8K monitor as Nvidia and AMD can handle the resolution without any hiccups. Makes sense?

Was considering an LG ultrafine 5k - then I saw the repair vids on the "NorthridgeFix" channel .... err, maybe not. I know any electronics device is a lottery, but these LG units kind of look like they are designed to fail at just the right time (soon as the warranty ends). Extremely fragile IO ports that are barely held together with cheap solder, wobble around when probed,, and will brick the motherboard if there is any stress on the cable. Ticking timebomb - good one LG ! Now Im pretty set on the Alogic and trust the quality of the components. Their hubs are good quality, so hopefully the monitor is too ? Be great if there was a teardown vid somewhere that had a closer look at how its put together (wishful thinking I know). So now its either - get 2-3 of these for my upgrades, or suck it up and pay for a Studio Display. (or do nothing, and be happy with my existing cheapy Benq 4k entertainment monitor - which has been extremely reliable, easily surviving 2 house moves in the last 5 years)

No doubt BenQ has a track record for professional quality. LG is consumer/prosumer grade in my book. Apple being the king of the hill for quality and capability. Alogic being somewhere in the middle of BenQ and Apple, just without the track record.

Just to "Clarify" my thoughts on the Clarity value proposition - you are paying 799 USD ?? Ouch. In Australia its retailing for 899 AUD (630 USD), against the StudioDisplay at 2500 AUD (1750 USD) - so 2 of them is less than a single StudioDisplay. Didnt realise they were even an Australian company till I saw this video :). That explains the better pricing we get, I guess

You give really bad advice. 4K monitors have a pixel density that is entirely unsuited for MAC OS, especially at 27". Yes, you can scale everything like a savage but it's nothing like 5k and NOT suited for professional applications. So a 4K monitor will NEVER be an alternative to a 5k Monitor.
@kikiwora

Its 4K :( It has no "Clarity", unfortunately. Not on a Mac, for which this seemingly is designed. For real Clarity a 5K matrix is required for 27". 4K is for 21"
