I know about the rush in the afternoon at Atlanta, although it is about 25 years ago. After leaving the gate as scheduled, ending up in a queue at the taxi lane. Just to hear planes taking off for over a hour, then see planes taking off at the runway (through the planes windows) for half a hour and at last after more than a hour and a half we lift off. Luckily I caught my plane to the Netherlands at Chicago O'Hare airport because the gate I arrived was near the gate I left.

One time I was flying out of ATL to ORD on an early morning flight on a 727 in 1990. I counted nearly 40 planes in line behind us to take off. The weather was fog and rain so that didn't help matters much in getting flights away on time.

I used to work at Hartsfield 94-97 as part of security at the NWA hanger early in the morning after shift change as the sun was coming up you could watch planes lining up to land and it look like a string of diamonds off in the distance if Hartsfield was that busy then you can imagine what it's like now with five runways in full operation during rush it's unreal if you want to see what it's like on radar you can download ADSB flight tracker Lite from Google Play set the flight routes for North America and then select Atlanta and watch the fun note make sure you set it at a dsb Exchange when indicated and this is also a visual server which means it can be turned off by the server owners at any time

You mean that in the video they misidentified some B717's as MD-88's? There were a lot of MD-88's when I watched, they called out tail numbers, and you could see the tail numbers on most. I'm really impressed that some of the Mad Dogs are still is use after 1/3 of a century! Impressive.

@LeppAviation5 жыл бұрын
Yep, kinda like the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" These were the workhorses in Delta's fleet because they were simpler, reliable, and perfect for what they were used for! Sadly yes, they are beginning to phase them out with the introduction of the A220, A321, and 737-900.
