C'est Tahney :)

C'est Tahney :)

Күн бұрын

I moved to France a year ago and this summer, in between living situations, I decided to stay in the south of France before finding a new home (thanks to Airbnb monthly discounts equalling rent payments!). In month two, I lived in Avignon, Provence. The city walls trapped in the 40-degree heat in a pretty stifling way. But there’s something about giving way to feeling hot and sweaty after months of grey cold. I love living a season (of the year and of live) in-between like this. Life is a house of cards, but nothing has collapsed by temporarily removing myself from the thick of life (read: busyness, opportunity, happenings) for something a little simpler, just for a little while.
What I loved about Provence:
Buying melted camembert on bread for dinner
A free ferry as a means of public transport
Swimming under a 2000-year-old Roman aqueduct
What I didn’t like:
I feel so lonely after a year from home! But I had friends and family visit, and I loved sharing the long days together in a place so unfamiliar but beautiful to us.
Sometimes, it got so hot that I slept on our tiles to cool down.
Everything’s closed in August in France! But seeing it come back to life at the end of August was fun.
Time stamps:

1:51 Palais des Papes
2:26 Le Pont d'Avignon

Hi, it's the firstime I saw a foreigner present Provence with a sort of Melancholia. It's strange because it's really french or close to the french spirit : Spleen, melancolia, Rationalism, Existentialism.(The reason why a lot of people in the world think french people always complains and are never happy... But in fact, we are just realist, and feel the sadness of the human condition). And the beauty beetween them.

It’s the Fellini version of travel videos. Just add 60’s film music and dump the production audio and you’re there!
