[4K] 🇺🇸 Boston "T" Subway | All the Lines

The Boston subway is oldest underground metro system in the Americas with 3 lines over 64 km (40 mi) of track. All three lines were built within 10 years of the system's inauguration in 1903 making a lot of the infrastructure outdated. Since the system receives somewhat poor maintenance there are constantly closures and slow zones for track work. Frequency on the system is not great with a train arriving every 8-12 minutes on average. Every line has different rolling stock specifications meaning there are unique trains in the livery of the line they run on. The red line has the widest variety of rolling stock and the blue line is one of 2 metro lines in the US to use pantograph power. Fares are integrated with the rest of the MBTA's system and can be paid with the Charlie card. One ride costs $2.40 regardless of mode of payment. While the system certainly needs more love on some parts, I found this system a good way to get from downtown to other areas around Boston however its not so great when going suburb to suburb. 10:55 these are also the oldest subway cars in Active service. There are a total of 76 cars of these numberd 01500-01523 and 01600-01651 (76) these were manufactured by Pullman Standard from 1969-1970. These first ran on December 11 of 1969. These are currently 54 Years old and are still running to this day. Usually most people skip off talking about the train cars themselves.

You forgot the green line.That one is the most important because it was the first line out of the 4 and it is the first subway in the western hemisphere.Even though it is a light rail, you should count it because it’s the oldest and is still a subway even though it is at grade in some of its branches.

I fully agree with you, the green line is definitely the most important but in being the longest of the 4 T lines and also being light rail I decided it needed its own video which will be out soon.
