There seems to be some confusion about this title. A lot of people seem to be confused as to why the approach was so smooth. The adjective bouncy here was in reference to the double impact we had right at touchdown. Overall this was a really smooth approach. I would've used bumpy of turbulent in that place had I meant the approach was bumpy. Either way, it's still a great clear day flying into ATL.

@@sla31 Yeah. I landed in ATL two times and both were really bouncy. Our captain then stood in front of the cockpit door to say good bye to his passengers. He looked like a mixture of Bud Spencer and Chuck Norris. Ah i thought. That's flying the American way. 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

Nice video. On a bumpy scale of 1-20, that is about a 5, max. I have landed many times at DFW in July-Aug and it looked (and felt) like the wings were going to snap off. The entire fuselage bouncing back and forth. Spooky. Thanks sir!

No, greasing it would be a touchdown where you can’t even tell the wheels have touched the pavement. Not a jolt and we lift back up and hit again. I’ll admit that my camera does a good job of smoothing out the jolts, but you can clearly hear the gear hit, and then hit again after we bounce up. I have a lot of “greased” landings on my channel, I wouldn’t even put this in the consideration pile haha. Thanks for watching though!

From seeing the spoilers coming out, then S-turns each way and finally flaps out really quick... this sure looks like slowing down for sequencing to avoid a go around.

Not to my knowledge. Unfortunately. Definitely not since I started this channel and recorded flights. It's possible I took a DC-10 or MD-11 flight as a child when I flew before I cared or remembered, but they were pretty much all gone by the time I started filming flights.

Great fly! Have you heard Republic Airways is doing pilot training for young adults to address the pilot shortages and request a reduction from 1500 hours to 750 hours which was rejected by the FAA due to safety concerns? What do you think?

I think the 1,500 hour rule needs to stay. As a private pilot myself, with over 100 hours, I don't think I'd feel ready to be a commercial pilot with only 750 hours. Do you ant your surgeon putting you under for surgery with half the current required training? I get there's a pilot shortage, and believe me, I get that it's expensive to get hours in. I've spent A LOT of money just to get my pirate license, but I think the high bar for entry is one of the reasons why the aviation industry has such a good safety record.

I'd typically use the term bumpy or simply turbulent, if referring to turbulence during the landing. This was actually a pretty smooth approach. I would've said Bumpy Atlanta Approach, or Turbulent Atlanta Approach if I was referring to the approach. This was actually a very smooth approach.

I'll be honest. I'm a little perplexed. This video has been live for five days now, and has the same rating as any other video I post. And for the first 4 days no one took issue with my title. And suddenly, in the last 12 hours, there has been a slew of people commenting that this is clickbait or a misrepresentation. Listen, I do the best I can to accurately represent each video by the title. I have over 2,300 uploads and I've been doing this for 7 years now. It's pretty rare I get multiple people in a short time saying that it's a "cheap label" or "clickbait." I'll also admit that my camera is so good that it does a great job of smoothing out rough, hard, or bouncy landings, but I'd still say it's pretty clear we had a decent bounce on landing here. Now some comments seemed to be confused as to what part the bouncy was in reference too. The bouncy landing isn't in reference to the approach. I'm not saying this was a bumpy or turbulent approach. In fact it was pretty smooth. If I was talking about the approach I would've said bumpy Atlanta approach. The bounce reference is for when we actually landed, and it may not look huge, but we clearly hit, the spoilers begin to deploy, we bounce up enough for our wheels to come off the pavement, and we hit again. You can clearly hear the wheels hit twice. So, I appreciate you watching, as I do with every one who takes time to watch my uploads, but I disagree that there was any type of "cheap label" used.

@@sla31 First of all, this isn't personal. The video was well shot. I didn't see a bounce. A bounce and a balloon are two errors that occur during the landing flare. Both have the same recovery procedure, often it's a go-around. A bounce is often the result of an incomplete flare where the airplane contacts the ground with an excessive descent rate. It causes complete compression of the struts and results in the airplane becoming airborne again with the vertical velocity experienced at liftoff. Consider a few things- you were seated nearly directly above the MLG (main landing gear) where anything but the smoothest touchdowns seem rough. The people at the front and the back of the cabin hardly noticed a thing. Most transports that weigh in like the A-321 have dual axles on both MLG bogies. The A-321 and the 727 (single axles) are notorious for rough touchdowns. The 75 has twice the axles and is much easier to paint on. I think you had left MLG touchdown, spoiler deployment and then right MLG touchdown. Don't overlook the effect of runway undulations and bad pavement joints. At best there was a shallow skip- the MLG touches at nearly zero vertical velocity and a brief gust causes the MLG to be a smidge (less than 1') above the runway before touching down for good. In most jets, you'll see a hesitation or a retraction of the spoilers during a bounce. I think it's a great video in search of a better title. Cheers

I literally travel full time. I’m out of my house more than I’m in it…. I take over 200 segments per year. Some people seem to be confused here and think the adjective “bouncy” is in reference to the approach being turbulent, and that’s not the case. If I wanted to convey that the approach was turbulent I would’ve said turbulent Atlanta approach. Not bouncy Atlanta landing. This landing was bouncy. We hit, the wheels came off the ground and we hit again. That’s a bounce. I.e., bouncy. I appreciate you taking the time to watch, but I disagree. The title is an accurate representation of what is shown.
