I love the A319-115! Such an awesome spec with those over powered CFM56-5B7 and sharklets! If you didn’t know, that spec of cfm56 has up to 27,000lbs of thrust on takeoff, similar power to the CFM56-7B27 that you find on some 737-800s and -900ERs. A pilot told me that it feels like a sports car of the skies. I guess you could say this A319 spec of the 757 of the baby buses😂🔥

Interestingly, the arrival taxi at KORD was quite long, but it was much longer than it actually needed to be. You passed your destination terminal (3, concourse H) on taxiway A (heading west) at 1:41:31 in your video, and continued taxiing on taxiway A past terminal 3, and then past terminal 2. You then did a loop via taxiways SS and T and came back east towards terminal 3 again, joining just outside terminal 2. On your video you eventually return to stub A15 (for concourse H) 5 minus later - although there was clearly a pause in the video, so the actual wait was presumably a bit longer. My guess is that the gate (H10) wasn't available when you taxied past the first time (maybe due to late departing company traffic) and so the pilot had to taxi to a relatively quiet spot to wait until the gate was free. Anyway - thanks for all the cool videos - it's great to see the actual departure/arrival/taxi procedures that are used in real-life. I get great enjoyment from "re-flying" some of your flights in X-Plane. I'll do this flight one day, minus the extended taxi!
@sla312 жыл бұрын
You'd be correct my friend. We landed, and due to the de-icing going on at the terminal, our gate was occupied. ATC didn't have a place to put us where we wouldn't block traffic, so we got an extended tour of the entire airport. Thanks for watching my friend!

American has had this safety video for awhile now, however it's getting pretty rare. It was introduced years ago when American had plans to outfit their entire fleet with screens. That plan soon changed when they backtracked and started taking screens out of planes. So, now it's pretty rare you get a domestic flight with the screens where the flight attendants can use this video.

@sla312 жыл бұрын
So, if you look closely at around 1:10:00 and onward, there's actually ice accumulating on the leading edge of the wing. I could be wrong, but I believe the procedure, when that happens, is to leave the flaps and slats extended to make sure it all gets removed when de-icing the aircraft for the next flight.

Funny, I actually really like the existing KC Intl terminals and didn't see the necessity of the new midfield terminal for but obviously I'm not the one making the decision here ....
@sla312 жыл бұрын
MCI's terminals are unique and historic, but sadly they're just not very economical for today's world. In a different time, they worked perfectly, but 9/11 changed a lot, and they're now horribly inefficient. As someone who flies a lot, and see airports all over the world, even with my bias given MCI is one of my home airports, it's become clear to me in the last decade that MCI needed to make a change. Needing multiple security checkpoints in each terminal, not being able to provide adequate restrooms and food options post security, and the terminals being separated and passengers having to leave security and re-clear again if they were connecting to a different airline were all small parts of why the design had failed in the modern era. Also, just think about the nightmare you have to go through if you fly out of terminal B and back into terminal C? Now your car is in the B lot, but you need to go to the C lot. So, you have to take the red bus to the other terminal, then grab the blue bus. Or grab a blue bus, then wait at the transfer spot in the middle of nowhere for another blue bus. Getting to your car takes long enough in economy lots without having to deal with that. It's sad to see the old terminals going away, but it was time. Thanks for watching!

7:13 Whoa! What's with the smoke? Stewardess get me off this plane!

It’s actually completely normal, especially in conditions like we had here. That is, cold air temperatures and being the first time the engines are run for the day. How do you always get lucky with clean windows? When I film I always get crappy, scratched and dirty windows 😭
@sla312 жыл бұрын
A lot of it's luck haha. Some of it's just avoiding certain types of planes that tI know will likely have bad windows. CRJ's as a whole often have bad windows. 717's are also notorious for having faded plastic. I also travel with a microfiber cloth to help clean off anything on the inside of the window. Of course, I can't do anything about the outside. It's luck of the draw. That all said, there's some flights you never see on the channel because the windows are bad. I just don't every post them.

Great fly! Which US airline do you fly the most frequently?
@sla312 жыл бұрын
This year so far, it's Southwest with 22 segments. United is currently in second with 17. That said, it varies by year. American is typically the airline I have the highest status with. By the time this year is over, Southwest will probably still be in the first position. Also, for your previous comment, about being cheaper to fly or drive. I had a whole reply typed out. With all kinds of scenarios and calculations, and you must've deleted your other comment. Because when I went to reply, my long, calculated response just disappeared haha. I'm not typing that all out again, but the bottom line was.... No, in every scenario I calculated, it was cheaper to fly than drive. Even on a short trip from Tulsa to St. Louis. It was ended up being almost twice as expensive to drive.

Don't know SOP's but did the pilots forget the flaps? lol
@CkEMnstr-gr2ro2 жыл бұрын
The leading edge of the wing started to develop a layer of ice. I'm not a airline pilot but im assuming they kept them down so it would freeze them together or so when they taxi out for takeoff and get de-iced it'll get all the ice off that was developed on the exposed areas when the flaps were out.
@sla312 жыл бұрын
As C00k1EM0nst3r mentioned, staring around 1:10:00 and onward, ice was forming on the flaps and slats. So, I believe it's standard procedure at that point to leave them extended for proper de-icing on the next flight.

I am going to admit something! At the part during the outbound taxi when all of that smoke came out, that reminded me of a time in Atlanta- Hartsfield international Airport when I freaked out in the plane seeing smoke coming out from the area of the wing/engine! 😮😅🫠🫠 does anybody know what that is? Wow because the first time I saw something like that I was scared I actually was about to call over the flight attendant but I didn’t want to make a big scene I was just holding onto myself hoping everything was going to be OK and it was! 😅😮💨😮💨 I couldn’t believe it though ha ha. It was a flight from Atlanta, GA to Panama City, Panama 🇵🇦 to go see my mom and family!
@sla312 жыл бұрын
It's very common for aircraft engines to smoke when starting, especially in cold weather when it's the first time they've been started for the day. Everything is cold at that point, and they generally create more smoke then. This was this aircraft's first flight of the day and it was just above freezing, so that's what caused it in this particular situation.
