However the difference is a bit too subtle for most people to notice the difference outside of a side-by-side, and it's going to be a tough sell on PC. It's a decent package on console, though.

Great video, brought back some memories. Burnout Paradise is the first game I even earned platinum for on PS3, it is one of the most enjoyable racing games I ever played and it's been a blast to revisit on PC.

That shadow problem I believe can be relieved if you set the shadows on medium instead of the high on PC if I remember well. Thats what I did back in the day anyways. Shadows will be a lot sharper but should reduce the filtering issue. And yh the SSAO was horrible back in the day, its not necessary to turn on. Infact, the rubbish SSAO is likely the reason the 580 and 1060 cant handle the game at 4k 60 without dips. We talking about a game where GTX 285 hardware was in style to run it maxed out at 1440p 60 FPS locked (no SSAO).

Tim Dev the like system plays both parts of the spectrum. People who make resonating comments for others and spell out the truth -this game is a rehash with a filter, Afiltering and small changes thrown in. Actor Adam Anouer Almost all of them are still a ton of fun. Burnout 3 was originally gonna have original music, then acclaim went under and that music went unused. It was readded into paradise (3 songs that come to mind are tonight this ends, another world, and red sky horizon. the youtube uploads are pretty low quality though)

I think what rubs me the wrong way about Takedown even though I love Takedown is, people seem to forget the first 2 games. A damn shame when they're considered to be so amazing.

Actor Adam Anouer The second game is my favorite, followed by the first one, to be honest, although that's largely due to the fact that these are the only two that I own. (Stupid EA for not releasing Burnout 3 on the GameCube) I've never liked how easy it is to takeout other drivers, as it puts a lot less emphasis on actual racing, imo. Pushing them into oncoming traffic was 5x more satisfying anyway.

Mark Cox like I said the 360 version was free on xbox one so I only paid $6 for the big surf expansion. In some of the comparisons it literally looks worse - like the scrap yard sign which is more detailed on the old PC version. Also the PC version has softer shadows and the remaster just looks too dark in places.

The smudged darkness around the power lines wouldn't be ambient occlusion. It's far more likely that it's the depth of field effect rendering at a subsampled resolution without a depth check.

Paradise lacks imo. Sometimes i'll lightly brush up against another car in Road Rage, and they'll go flying, but GOD forbid I come crashing in at 100+ miles an hour to side swipe them only to have the result be a slight nudge. Burnout 3 and Revenge are better as far as the arcade feel, but Paradise did Open up more opportunity and freedom for the franchise. I just miss the ruthlessness of the previous titles.

Machinorio for some reason DF seems to talk up Xbox One X. Either because it has better hardware or Microsoft is sliding them some cash. Who knows? Hopefully if & when Sony has better hardware specs. DF will give them the same attention. I own both XB1X & PS4 Pro. But rarely use XB1X except for enhanced 3rd-party games. PS4 crushes XB1 in terms of sheer number of exclusives the I personally enjoy. 343 killed Halo for me. Forza is great when I'm in the mood.

Definitely not the best in the series. I hate the open world environment in this game, the tracks are so dull and boring. I’d rather have set tracks where the developers put their dedication to make each race take advantage of the takedowns and car jumps. The environment in paradise to me is lazily built with no inspiration, It makes it a chore getting to different check points. A definite pass in the series.

Rheinmetall I mean the original is backwards compatible on Xbox One. It was also free last summer on games with gold. As far as I'm concerned it does no harm to you since you don't have to buy the remastered version. Plus the game is damn good and with the NFS franchise basically in ruins, I think they're pretty clearly testing the waters for a revival. I don't like EA but this would be a good direction for them to return to if they're looking to get consumers back. Just a thought.

What I find peculiar is that DF does not show some of the very ugly parts of the game. There are places where you will find very rough and ugly textures that look like voodoo 3 standard. Specially on railroad tracks.

It's a bit disappointing to see all the flame animations for the boost bar and exhaust backfire still using the low-resolution ones from the 720p era of Burnout games, so while most of the action is crisp and clear, there's this muddy corner in the screen where the fire isn't. :/

I started the series with Burnout 2 (still a fantastic entry) and I adore it. If you like the soundtrack Faith you might like Sunrise Valley's theme.

Is there an option to turn off takedown camera ? I hate that when i go 200+ km/h and the game takes control away from me. In Burnout 3, Revenge and Dominator you are able to turn it off, and i did that in all of those games after a few hours . In the original release of Paradise there is no option for that, and when the game decides to take a turn i don't want to then it pisses me off.

You guys are *so* focused on the tech side of things that you tend to forget the other reasons why things are in games, like the motion blur. It's not to make it look smoother or hide bad textures, it's to give it the sense of speed that the original has. If you look at the bottom of the screen, it's' not just a plain motion blur, it's curved. That kind of gives the sense that you're going much faster than you are.

hm strange they didn't point the excessive bloom and contrast compared to the original, and also minimized the absence of motion blur. Even at 60fps it could still help a fast arcadey racing game feel smoother and "speedier". Will it at least be optional?
