thanks was hoping you would film it. very scenic route with the urban design and green track. i hope it lasts and can be maintained well. it does look fantastic.

It seems like building it around the existing road system compromises the speed because they’ve had to have a lot of tight and very slow corners. Although I suppose if it was the Netherlands, they would have most likely redesigned the roads to prioritise the tram instead. It kind of shows their priorities or lack of ambition. If you build the tram first, you’d have much shallower bends so it could maintain speed. Although it’s also true that trams are about a more relaxed philosophy for travel. People who are obsessed with speed are always going to find another way.

I just cannot work out why the light rail vehicle is going Soooo Slooowwwllly, especially in the reserved sections of track, are they trying to make sure its too slow to attract passengers, the canberra light rail travels faster than the car traffic.

given that the sydney trams also are known for being very slow, I'd say it is just the NSW government being incompetent

Trams aren't trains... Trains go fast. Trams weren't ever designed to go fast they're convenience How can you have trams go fast anyway when they're meant to share roads and pedestrian walk ways? You can have all the signs and regulations you want in place, but you still can't put brains in statues... People will still walk out without looking, cars will still do unpredictable things infront of them. If you want speed, I'm pretty sure you're after heavy rail.

@@Royal_BloodLust You are correct in that trams go slower than trains, but this speed is much slower than most modern trams, to a ridiculous extent

Great job, imho. Thank you for this. Am I missing something? I much prefer trams to buses. But wouldn't it be cheaper, simpler and more flexible for cities to just put in electric bus lanes instead of the tram lines? ☮

10:58 there is a flooding depth marker, yet the track continues slightly downhill in the distance... if the water reached that sign there'd have to be hundreds of millions of dollars in damage...

Wonder what the desired outcome was intended to be. Are the outer stops intended to be park and ride startions with large car parks to discorage road traffice entering the city? Otherwise far too many stops in the city centre and far too few on the outer parts of the journey, the locals in the suburbs will just make the judgement that it is too far to walk to the stop and the people making journeys in the central area will just walk as it is quicker. if the tram ran further out to the suburbs (I imagine this is the plan) then the slow speed city section is somewhat mitigated.

It's because the part of the line from Rosehill Gardens to Carlingford was original a mostly single-track rail line, and while the rest of the track was converted to double track light rail, there was not enough space under the bridge. It may be reconstructed one day, but not anytime soon.
