This line is nice calming corridor. Evan now with the electricity it is still very much the same.

OMG is that a gawdawfully slow line. Lucky if it breaks 60Kmh. Well maintained and looks to be used even in the hottest part of the day. Thanks for the post.

Lots of level crossings in Adelaide and stations in relatively close proximity. Some services run on a limited stop pattern and achieve reasonable speeds.

i always find it kinda odd when you have an s-bahn-esque system like this and it's not electrified from the get go

The line was built in the 19th century. Our state government is very anti-rail, no investment in the network until ~2010, in fact up until the late 80s lines got progressively closed until only 4 main and 2 spur lines remained. Regional lines all gone. Protectionist policies meant diesel rail cars got built in the 1950s instead of electrifying and purchasing off the shelf electric units.
