These two railway lines are very busy with a huge number of freight trains. Trains that use this route mainly transit between the Adriatic sea, Central and East Europe. This cab ride video created from a SŽ 541 locomotive which was pulling 16 car transport wagons freight train from Germany to Port of Koper. Detailed train and route informations are shown in the video. These informations include current location, maximum allowed train speed, limit speed, slow order speed, track altitude and other relevant informations.
Date of capturing: April 2018.

Hello from Plymouth, England. I enjoyed your video very much and I particularly liked your way of giving information in the bottom left corner of the screen. Your video allowed me to learn a lot about the geography of Slovenia about which I have to admit I knew very little. More of the same please! Thank you.

I stumbled across your videos after watching some similar ones on the Slow TV channel on the Pluto app, and I’m totally hooked! My two year old always watch them to unwind at naptime, but I’ve grown quite fond of them and sometimes i watch them otherwise too. Can i ask a quick question? We are from the US (Cleveland, Ohio area, to be exact), so I don’t speak the language often heard in the videos. What is the warning tone (assuming it’s a warning tone) that is given over the speaker often? It’s a woman’s voice; sometimes the phrase is only said once, sometimes it’s said three times consecutively. I think it begins with an L. I’ve always wondered what was being said! It’s a short phrase, just a few words. Hehe. Thanks!!

Very beautiful countryside. I like the old fashioned catenary wire supports. Do operators ever fill out maintenance forms about the rattling and squeaking of the locomotive?
@jasa_m7990
@jasa_m7990 3 жыл бұрын
It's not really old-fashioned, just 3 kV DC instead of the more common 21 kV AC, so the cables are thicker because the current is higher. This requires such supports but less isolating distance. Greetings from Ljubljana :)

Hello from Ontario Canada.Love your videos and the work you put into them. I wondered if I can ask as few questions. I see the cancer of graffiti has taken over and even the train sets are covered. So sad that so many do not respect the property of others. Japan figured out how to stop it. 3 years in jail and a $10K fine if caught stops it pretty fast. My questions are about the stations and yards that are seen in your videos. Most have many tracks and large yards but I never seen and cars in them. Also so many abandoned and rusting cars and trains sets. Where did all the traffic go that used these yards and why are those rusted cars not scrapped and turned into cash. Keep the videos coming, the only way they could be better is if I was sitting beside you in the cab.
@pifko6
@pifko6 5 жыл бұрын
Perhaps I can answer your questions. Concerning graffiti, the situation is improving. There are fewer them. As far as old wagons are concerned, SŽ (Slovenian Railways) still uses them in cargo transportation, but they are slowly replacing them with new ones, especially for the transport of ores. The traffic on the Slovenian routes is tremendous, because Slovenia is a transit country between the west and the east, and also thanks to the only seaport we have, Seaport Koper, whose hinterland extends to Bavaria (Germany), Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, even to Russia. Seaport Koper is the largest terminal on the northern Adriatic sea, surpasses the port of Trieste and Rijeka and is the 9th largest car terminal in Europe. It has three direct connection with Japan and few wit east-Asia. The timetable for freight trains is set, so that the cargo arrives as soon as possible to the port of Koper or to countries, so the stations are "empty". Sometimes it happens that Koper can not accept more cargo because its capacities are full and there is a lot of demand. In which case the stations transforms as the extension of Luka Koper and the trains remain there until the capacities are released. Even for few days. Slovenia started to build the second railway track Divača-Koper to accomodate growing traffic, so the number of trains will continue. There are currently 90-110 trains per day between Ljubljana and Koper. More info about seaport Koper: www.kozlekedesvilag.hu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/navigatorv-konf-borut-semrl.pdf
@railpast
@railpast 5 жыл бұрын
@@pifko6 Thank you. 90-110 is heavy traffic. Many old abandoned passenger train sets rusting away. Glad to hear things are improving. I look at videos of 40 years ago before graffiti reared its ugly head and they look so much better. Now everything looks like one large junk yard. Even here is is a disgrace. Looking at Sweden and Holland nice trains but graffiti everywhere. A real shame. Time to put a stop to it everywhere.

Thanks for posting these! Another question: What is the purpose of the narrow concrete strip that runs parallel to the tracks? It usually hugs the right of way, but sometimes wanders a ways away and meanders along the back of homes and alongside fields when the terrain is hilly. Is this a place for workers to safely walk?
