That episode was in 2 nights ago. As for kirk i think you may be right. But also I warmed up to captain shaw faster. Took me a little longer with the new kirk. Its an iconic character, be under a little more scrutiny. People will always be split on it I think. But hey, I love that Connie refit retro🖖

It seems obvious that the plasma torpedoes are meant to be used at very close range immediately after decloaking. It is suitable for ambush tactics and then becomes potent.

my Reman character in Star Trek Online has the Malem Warbird, a 25th century version of this, equipped with the same torpedoes, and let me tell you...they're crazy I either do catastrophic damage to something with them, or they get blown up in my face, and their aoe is like 2.5km xD

The Conie refit refit destroyed that fleet from a distance though, and the only way for the Romulans to get the upper hand is to get in real close and use “Attack Pattern Suicide.”

Of course the Connie Refit Refit can take the plasma torpedoes. The Connie 2 was able to take a blast from V'ger with just an overload on it's systems and Chekov burning his hand.

CRR would detect the old cloaking tech. As any 24th to 25th starfleet ship. B'rel and K'vort class Klingon BOP cloak was more advanced.

Voyager missed a D7 under cloak with standard sensors, once they realised what they were being shot buy did they perform more specialised scans (plus the federation is very familiar with the D7 and they AFAIK never had access to a Rom BoP)

The Romulan cloak of that era would have not been effective against a ship from the 24th or 25th century... fun vid though.

well a Klingon D7 did sneak up on USS Voyager....and the Romulans always had better cloaks than the Klingons (The Romulans must have given them old tech)

I laughed hard when you accidentally rammed into the Connie Refit Refit after you caused it to saucer separate because of the plasma torpedoes. Actually I don't think you rammed into it. You were really too close so the explosion caused the saucer to go one way and the star drive section to fly back at you. Even with full reverse you were too close to out run the poor star drive section. I too give it to the Romulan plasma torpedoes. Although the Connie Refit Refit's super advanced quantum torpedoes can still lay waste to a Romulan Bird Of Prey with one to two shots.

The new Kirk is fine, but he does lack a certain charisma that especially Shatner brought to the character. That is not a dig on the current actor. He is so far adequate. One either has charisma or not. I'm not sure which 30 year old actor would really do well. Any thoughts?

Hmmmz, I have to agree there. I mean I’ve only seen him in one episode so far, but yes, not as much personality. Maybe it’s down to the mannerisms as well? We know Shatner liked to over emphasise, but that’s the Kirk we know. It would be tricky finding a replacement, can’t really think of any 😂. Do you have anyone in mind?
