In this video we put the NEW Defiant against the Sovereign Class!
Armed with the new canon Pulse Phasers. Will this be too much for the Enterprise?

In terms of canon, the firepower of the Defiant is about right, but this model is a tad too survivable. The Defiant is a tough ship, but, it would not survive getting so abused by a Sovereign Class.

I agree with this. The shields could probably be halved and this would be perfect. The only other minor thing that bugs me is that the dorsal phaser seems to be able to fire straight forward, so it’s being fired through the middle of the pulse phasers sometimes which never happened in canon and destroys the realism a bit.

True, the Defiant is a nimble and powerful ship for its size but a bigger ship of around the same tech would likely be more powerful because it will be able to take far more of a beating while being able to dish out a lot more damage, in other words, the Defiant would have to do some serious damage to take a Sovereign class ship down whereas Sovereign class ship would only need a few lucky shots to do a lot of damage to the Defiant. Size in this case really does matter because a Sovereign class ship could have a far bigger power source which means far stronger shields and weapons. The strength of the is that it's got good enough firepower whiles being hard to hit, but it likely wouldn't be able to take much of a beating if it got hit too much from a bigger ship like a Sovereign class ship.

There is no way the Defiant should have won that fight. The only reason I can think of that it did was the guy manning the weapons had the aim of a Stormtrooper.

Ya I assumed this would be defiant vs enterprise d, so the defiant would be the one with advantage as it was built after enterprise d and for warfare with the borg. Sovreign class is like cheating. Do defiant original with structural vibration issues vs enterprise d

Would love to see this the other way round - though, I feel the Defiant has a bit too much in terms of shielding... The Sovereign has regenerative shielding, whereas the Defiant does not, if memory serves.

regard the E, i would have personally like to see it rather than the F doing its decomisioning lap and the F being at the end being the new enterprise with the titan getting repaired

The Enterpise E fired off so many photons and none of them hit, yet the quantums hit every time. How can that be? Good to see the Defiant got a bloody nose because I really wanted the E to win.

I felt kind of cheated that the E didn't appear in Picard. I wished she had appeared along with the D but if she was destroyed before that point then oh well... Yeah cannon this battle would not have lasted that long. As you said if Worf was at tactical on the E the fight would have been over VERY quickly. It was a nice battle though.

ya that was a pure nostalgia SNAFU. i mean they had a D-7 but not a sovereign class??? and the Sovereign would still very much be a top of the line even if not SOTA at that point.

One tactic Picard used in Nemesis was to send fire weak-energy phasers in a 360 pattern in order to determine where the cloaked ship was. I would think Picard would do so again. Also there should be a way for both ships to redirect shields depending their profiles to each other. IMO, there would be no immediate reason to have strong rear shields if you're constantly facing the other ship to fire and getting hit as well.

I think the defiant was definitely more agile then the mod shows. It's really the point of it and having big guns armor was secondary. Just watch any of the episodes were it engages in combat.

Great battle . I think defiant is one of the very few ships that can attack above it's weight class . Shows this class of ship is doing what it was designed for . Just imagine what an attack group of defiant class ship can do . Still my most favorite ship design ever . bar none .

I have been dreaming of this battle for years and you are living my dreams. I always loved the Defiant, it's basically all the firepower of a Galaxy class ship in the minimum space needed for a starship. I did love how the Defiant could evade most torpedo hits by a very thin margin but I think she was rather sluggish. Ive seen her on screen far more manuverable.

I really wish we'd seen the Enterprise E in Picard S1 at the end as Riker's command ship instead of Zheng He. It would've been perfect. I don't see any reason why the E should've been decommissioned so young and not been on active duty during the ST-P era. Age wise, the E would be 27 years old, which isn't that old given that Starfleet had upgraded Excelsiors and Mirandas in the Dominion war. IRL, the USN kept CVN-65 in service for 55 years before decommissioning and being slated for the scrap yard. Given the Sovereign and the other Borg threat ships are fast, powerful and durable for their time, I don't see why upgrades couldn't have been done to keep them in service. We saw what the Galaxy X upgrades could do to a Galaxy class, imagine if Starfleet did such extensive work on a Sovereign.

The Enterprise F was destroyed by the Starbase. We see on screen it took a large explosion, and then later saw debris with the marking "F" on it. This is why the horrendous USS Tian was then renamed Enterprise G.

I've always suspected the defiant is actually a captains yacht from a much larger section 31 ship.

Not really fussed about seeing the E as there were plenty of Sovereign class vessels seen in fleet formation and a Ross class with missing nacelles, and no Galaxy class vessels, which was a shame, except for the big one itself the D. The Sovereign class is meant to be as manoeuvrable as a runabout packed with ablative armour and should make mince meat of a Defiant class even the pre Nemesis version. As for the Enterprise F, I would love to see some adventures with that with Admiral Shelby in command of it too

The fanwank has gotten a bit thick when a small ship like the Deviant can take six quantum torpedoes to the nose and barely get its shields dented.

I believe the service life of a class is around thirty-forty yrs. an the Enterprise E was only a few yrs old when they encountered the Scimitar. So I don't understand why they didn't simply decommissioned the Sovereign class and then present Enterprise F in the series finally. The Enterprise has always been the Flag ship of Star Fleet as well the most advanced and toughest an biggest the federation has to offer. An why don't they arm more of there ships with either pulse cannons, Lance phasers or weapon tripods. An are surprised when they get attacked.

There was a first draft of First Contact where Enterprise had rapid firing phaser cannons that overpower a Borg Cube. Even the novelization describes a pitched fight with dozens of Borg vessels and Starfleet employing a newer torpedo than the quantum, believed to be the chain-reaction weapon that made it into Armada. Defiant took a beating in the fight. The armor helped save the ship from an identical Borg volley, that had just similarly hit the unarmored nacelle of another ship that was destroyed by a reactor breach.

Me, too. The Enterprise really wasn't the same ship on screen. It was way too maneuverabile compared to the series. Why didn't they use a *real* battleship like the Defiant? It would have been consistent with the series.

Kobayashimaru is the most fun. You can add the most mods and go to war during battles. However it isn’t the most stable. Bridge Commander remastered is almost a different game. The visuals are vastly superior and it is very stable. Kobayashimaru is my favourite, it just edges it due to the customisations!

Exactly. Defiant class is more of a Federation Bird of Prey type. Obviously Starfleet places crew survivability above the KDF so the Defiant is tougher but not that tough.

It was only destroyed in the series due to a Breen dampening weapon which instantly knocked out the shields from full strength.

You're correct, there's no way a Defiant-class warship can stand against a Sovereign-class starship... or the Galaxy-class, for that matter. Halve the shield strength of the mod and it'll be far more believable.

The defiant should be able to defeat a galaxy class. The galaxy class was made for exploration and diplomacy. Lots of its space is dedicated to living facilities. The galaxy class is basically a floating apartment building in space. Whereas, the defiant was the first federation warship. With all due respect to the galaxy class, but, it would be shredded by the defiant. The galaxy class was not designed with all out war in-mind. That being said, the sovereign class is a whole other matter entirely. It doesn't have the blade of armor that the defiant has, but, it removes a lot of the more useless design features of the galaxy class. Given that it was produced in a time when the borg threat was known, it should be able to more consistently defeat the defiant.

As much as I like the Defiant, I really don't believe it would best the Sovereign Class. I mean, the Defiant was getting its ass kicked by a Borg cube, as evident in First Contact.

Sisko sitting in the Defiant giving orders to Galaxy Wings made up of ships at least 10 times his size is like a Sgt telling the General what his grand strategy is. What bugs me about the Defiant is that in the show its used as a COMMAND SHIP of a huge armada not once but TWICE which considered that its basically the federation version of a Bird of Prey is just STUPID. Defiant class is at best a corvette/destroyer sized ship. its not intended for long deployments or use on its own. its meant for use in packs or alongside other bigger ships of the line. and it has ZERO facilities as a command ship.

Did someone activate a cheat mode? Defiant literally took no hull damage, yet the ship had holes torn in it. No way should it have been able to eat so many quantum's without a scratch!

All those photon torpedoes fired from the "E" at the Defiant just drifting around useless... how could they miss their mark so frequently. I call B.S. In "reality," the Enterprise E should decimate the Defiant every single time.
