This is flight 17 of 33 from my recent trip where I flew around the world. At the end of September through the beginning of October, I set out to fly around the Earth, and after 16 days, 13 airlines, 33 flights, and over 38,000 miles, I landed back in Kansas City, Missouri after visiting 13 different countries. Over the next 5 weeks I'll be posting these flights in order, so you too can take this incredible journey, exactly as I did! The flights will be posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday until all 33 flights are live! So, check back three times every week to take this incredible journey with me! Your MCI and HNL were getting rather repetitious.
@sla31
@sla31 Ай бұрын
As I’ve said before, it takes a lot of footage, time, and money to run this channel and upload 365 videos per year. So I can’t really waste flights. That coupled with the fact that I’m not a roaming wanderer who changes home airports every month, inevitably it leads to some repetitiveness. I do my best to limit repeats whenever possible. And I do my best to change seats when I do have the same route more than once, so that there’s still diversity. Unfortunately, I cannot afford for every trip to be like this one 😂 so again, some repetitiveness is going to happen no matter what.

Hi, nice video. btw do you have camera on a suction mount on the window? You obviously weren't holding it the whole time.
@sla31
@sla31 Ай бұрын
@@jackkim9103 I hate to be the bearer of bad news my friend. Or maybe it's the bearer of surprising news haha. I do in fact hold the camera by hand, even on long flights. I do this for two reasons. First, because half of the airlines just don't allow mounts at all. They don't want you attaching anything to their planes even if it's a harmless suction cup. And then on top of that, half of the time even if the airline allows it, a crew member will tell you to take it off anyway. So, over the years I just decided to stop messing with it... Remember, I've been running this channel for 10 years now, so even though my primary method of filming has always been to film by hand, I have tested and tried different mounts and setups over the years. And the second point, and really the more important part. Mounts just don't work well with non-action cameras like iPhones. iPhones have amazing cameras that produce an amazing final picture, but they're not designed to be action cameras. So they're very susceptible to vibrations. And when you mount an iPhone or any other smartphone to the plane, all of those engine vibrations that planes have transfer directly into the lens of the camera. It distorts and warps the footage. And I'm too picky about the quality of my videos to settle for that. The only way to eliminate that is to isolate the camera away from the plane. And that means holding it by hand. Imagine a perfectly still lake reflecting the landscape off its flat surface. And then imagine throwing a rock into the lake. That's what the footage looks like when you mount an iPhone or Galaxy. Like ripples on the surface of a lake distorting the reflection. The only extra thing I do is I wear a black glove and black long sleeve shirts. This keeps my arm/hand from reflecting in the window.

Hey Skylite Productions. Your Asian full flight videos are pretty cool. I also travelled around the world in the last 20 years- 8 years as a travel and tour agent and the last 12 as an English teacher in Asia. I have travelled on countless international airlines in many international airports around the world. I can honestly say airports are my second home Thanks for the memories :o)

Great video - nice short flight. It was interesting seeing the daylight departure from ICN after that amazing night time arrival with all the stunning lights of the city on display. Also interesting how long it takes them sometimes to clean up the aircraft after exiting the runway upon landing.
@sla31
@sla31 Ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it my friend. And yeah, I think a lot of it depends on the airline specific procedures. There are some airlines that I just know it's going to take forever for them to clean the aircraft up. Hawaiian is one of them. You'll be at the gate already sometimes before they retract the flaps haha.

Hey @skylite can you tell me what were your sound settings for the camera to record this?

I record everything with eh regular iPhone audio settings. The only ting I make sure to enable is the "stereo" setting. Otherwise you won't get a true audio experience as the phone will automatically equalize the sound to both the left and the right speakers.

While you were there, did you notice that they actually have water canons inside the terminal in case of fires? Those canons looked heavy duty to me, and I bet they can shoot water far far away!

Interesting that there was a Finnair A359 on the ground at both airports....ICN and KIX. Read an article recently where there are predictions that Kansai International Airport will be completely under water by 2056.
@sla31
@sla31 Ай бұрын
It was an engineering marvel when it was built, and the first project of its kind. But you're right, it has been sinking at a much faster rate than anyone ever anticipated. They've already had to raise the seawall multiple times. The last thing I saw about this showed that the sinking had slowed considerably though. So that's good. Not sure if that was already factored into the 2056 date or not.

I am curious if you have any advice, I tried to set up something similar to this through American going around the world, but I have trouble finding something going east once you hit Berlin/Paris or so, that are direct flights anyway. Any tips to get from there to Tokyo? Maybe that pairing just doesn't have many direct eastern flights...Edit: I should add I dont want 33 flights, maybe 10-12 max would be good! 😂
@sla31
@sla31 Ай бұрын
Well, I always do my around the world trips flying west. But that's because I need the sunlight. You get way more sunlight flying west. If sunlight doesn't matter to you then it doesn't really matter which way you go. I'd suggest looking at the Middle Eastern airlines first. Between Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Gulf Air, etc. They usually have descent flights from Europe to Asia, via Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, etc. That area of the world is a bit tricky these days with the two conflicts going on in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The trip that this fight is a part of I ended up sing Finnair to fly from Bangkok to London via Helsinki. It was a bit of a long way around though as Finnair is banned from flying over Russia now, and they are also avoiding the Israel Palestine conflict area as well. So we had to fly due west from Bangkok until we had flown East of Israel and Ukraine. Then we turned due north and flew up to Helsinki. It turned a 8.5-9 hour flight into an 11.5 hour flight. Ultimately, I'd suggest using Google flights to see what's available. If a Oneworld airline has an option you should be able to book it through American, but I always use Google flights to find flights and then I book them through the airline in question. Google flights is an excellent search tool. What you can do there too is put your origin point and date, and then just type in "Anywhere" in the destination field. It'll then just show you a map with every potential destination. You can then click on Bangkok, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, etc. You can basically find thousands of options to different cities in minutes. You can also filter for only Oneworld airlines too.

WOWOWOWOW!!! He's off on the next leg of his Super-Amazing Race around the world!! Remember, read the clues VERY carefully. Anyhow, we're now 6 inches below normal in rainfall for 2024, below normal since October 1, and we're below average for November. We're at the time of year when we're most likely to get hit by storms, but this year, it's dry. So... the BIG news on General Hospital right now is Ava Jerome is on trial for causing Kristina to crash thru the hotel window a few months ago, leading to the death of her unborn baby. Ric Lansing is defending Ava Jerome. I'll tell you, I just want to punch Ric Lansing in the nose. Anyhow, another fine, Super-Fantabulous installment of your Amazing Race. Keep your eye on the Grand Prize.

Korean Airlines a bad memory hahaha 😆 The date was July 10th 2018, and I was finally on my way to Manila Philippines 🇵🇭 where I was starting my new retired life living full time in the Philippines. My flight started in SFO San Francisco on Korean Airlines 747-8i an absolutely huge but gorgeous plane. Unfortunately we had terrible head winds over the Pacific ocean on the way to Inchon South Korea where my connection flight to Manila was on. We were nearly two hours late arriving into Inchon. My connecting flight was held at the gate as there were about 30 passengers connecting to that flight. The connection was Korean Airlines 777-300ER and I got the very last seat in the rear of the plane. Unfortunately I noticed several immigration officers and police officers on the plane as I boarded? I asked the cabin staff member why all the officers? She told me there were appropriately 70 Chinese that had just been deported back to China through Manila! Well there was no space anywhere on the plane for my 4 pcs of carry on baggage. So the cabin crew set all my bags in the front of the plane along with numerous other bags and luggage! After that, I never saw my bags again!! After leaving Inchon I could only see 2 immigration officers for all 75 illegal Chinese passengers? After arriving in Manila, of course as having the last seat on the plane, by the time I made it to the front where my bags were stored, nothing was left!!! After having the entire plane searched for my bags, nothing was found. The cabin crew called for NAIA security officers to meet me at the plane exit, which they did. Unfortunately no cameras on the Korean Airlines 777, however there was cctv at the immigration entrance, and I was allowed to view the footage of everyone exiting the plane and arriving into the immigration line. There I could plainly see two Chinese men carrying numerous bags, including all of my very noticeable purple bags! But of course by this time, almost 3 hours had passed, and it was obvious that there was no way possible to ever get my bags back, more specifically, everything inside the bags! Terrible Terrible Terrible way to start my new life already a victim of theft from 2 Chinese idiots! No wonder they had been kicked out of Korea! I filled a claim with Korean Airlines, but that went nowhere bcos I wasn't able to come up with all the requirements to get any compensation! A huge waste of time and so much frustration hahaha 😆 😂 But! I have nothing but praise for the crew on board that flight! They went out of their way to do whatever they possibly could! I greatly appreciated that effort. So anyway, great flights from San Francisco and from Korea to the Philippines! Take care my friend! 😊❤

@sla31 absolutely my pleasure to watch your videos! It's an honor 🎖 to be your friend! And considering everything I'd already gone through to move to the Philippines, the important thing was that I was safe and sound! Everything I lost was replaceable, so it all worked out just fine in the long run! But yes a pretty bad experience for my first time ever in the Philippines 🇵🇭 hahaha 😁 But as I mentioned, Korean Airlines staff were absolutely amazing 👏 🤩 😍 I waa thoroughly pleased with their service and attitude considering they really couldn't do much, but they certainly gave it the team effort, and for that, I was very happy and I really enjoyed both my flights that very very long day hahaha 😆 Stay safe Brother 🙏 ❤️ give your little one a hug from Tito Bob (uncle) 🤗 💙 God bless always and Halong (take care) teaching you a little Filipino hahaha 😆
